Hazel Crothers - Young Citizenship Award Recipient
Each year, one student from every Duneland school is honored with the Young Citizenship Award, a tradition that has been upheld at Brummitt Elementary for the past 30 years, dating back to 1995. This year we are would like to honor 4th grader, Hazel Crothers, as our Young Citizenship Award winner. Hazel's name will be added to our commemorative plaque alongside those of previous honorees.
The Young Citizenship Award recognizes students who demonstrate honesty, a strong work ethic, helpfulness, and fairness—students who consistently put others before themselves. We look for those who show respect to their teachers, classmates, and all adults in the building. This award is our way of letting students know that their positive conduct, character, and attitude do not go unnoticed—and are deeply appreciated.
Pictured below is Hazel alongside her family, our Duneland Exchange Club representatives, Miss Vacco, and Mr. Jenks.
A+ Attendance
Last week, 83% of our students had perfect attendance. Congratulations to these 5 students for being drawn as our A+ Attendance winners (from left to right) Elaina Wood, Samantha Burkus, Ellieanna Fouts, Wesley Thode, and Nathaniel Neier.
Keep up the great work Brummitt Families!
IPad and Charging Cord Swap
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you about an important update regarding the iPads issued to students in grades K, 2, and 4.
During the week of May 19, 2025, all iPads for these grade levels will be swapped out for new devices. To ensure a smooth exchange process, we kindly ask that you return the following items with your child’s iPad:
The case
The charger block
The charging cord
Please note that all components must be returned in order to receive the new device. If any part of the iPad set (device, case, block, or cord) is missing, families will be charged for the replacement of those items.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain our technology resources and ensuring your child continues to have the tools they need for learning.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school office at 219-983-3660.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Mr. Cammarata
