Principal Message
If the temperatures are below 50 degrees, students should wear a coat. We know that our older students and maybe some younger ones put up a fight about bringing a coat to school. Feel free to tell them that the principals said so!
When it snows, students are only allowed on snow covered ground if they have boots, snowpants, coats, hats, mittens/gloves, etc. The blacktop is usually plowed for students who do not have all of their winter gear. If the wind chill is above zero degrees we go outside!
If you need assistance in obtaining winter clothing please let us know!
Have a great weekend,
Erin, Julia, and the OMS staff
Lost and Found - New Images Added!
Earlier this week we sent out an email with links to all of our Lost and Found Items. Three more pictures have been added. If you recognize an item please email Ms. Davis at edavis@sd25.org with the photo number, description of the item, your child's name and teacher. Many families have the same items so they are returned on a first come, first serve basis. All items not claimed by Friday, December 15th will be donated.
LMC Book Sponsors - Thank you!
The LMC staff would like to thank families for sponsoring books at the library fundraiser back on November 16. More than 90 books were sponsored! The funds earned will help us to purchase more books for the library.
SCIENCE CLUB - Spots Still Available!
Science Club is back with three sessions, meeting on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, January 16
through March 6. We’re offering hands-on science adventures for students in grades two
through five; first grade students may participate if an older sibling is enrolled in Science Club
AND an adult can volunteer to help every day that the first grade student attends.
We meet from 3:35 until 4:45 PM in the LMC.
Session 1: Bubbles and More (three weeks)
How fast do bubbles and bearings move in tubes of oil? What weird and wonderful shapes
appear when Zometool frameworks are dipped in bubble solution?
Session 2: Triple E: Electrons, Electricity, and Electromagnetic Waves (three weeks on
Tuesdays or Wednesdays)
Electricity is not merely a flow of electrons in a wire; it is also a flow of photons in an
electromagnetic wave. How to photo cells produce electricity? How do the electrons in an
element’s atomic structure relate to its electrical properties? Find out through experiments
and games.
Session 3: Magnets and Magnetism (two weeks on Tuesdays or Wednesdays)
We’ll explore the properties of magnets and magnetism on the first week, then wrap up
winter Science Club with the fast-paced “Magnet Challenge”.
Want to join in the fun? Then complete and return the registration form as soon as possible.
Sessions can fill up very quickly. The number of students per session is dependent on the
number of adult volunteers.
To ensure that we’re able to provide a safe and enjoyable activity at least two adults will be
present each day. Any days that do not have at least one adult volunteer will be cancelled.
Please consider signing up to help on one or more days as your schedule allows.
Questions? Please contact Cynthia House at chouse@sd25.org.
