IAR TESTING

Yesterday was the 3rd day of our statewide testing, Illinois Assessment of Readiness for our third through fifth-grade students. With all testing taking place on the computers, I am pleased to report that we have only encountered minor glitches and the tests have been administrated as smoothly as possible. I have been impressed by the mindsets of our students and the level of preparation is evident. Testing will continue Wednesday and Thursday of next week. I want to thank all parents for having your child present and ready for testing. Coordinating make-ups can be challenging, but to this point, absences have been minimal!

Spring Conferences

Our elementary Spring conferences will be held the afternoon on Thursday, April 18th. These conferences are on an “as needed” basis. Today, a letter will be sent home with your child indicating whether the classroom teacher is requesting a conference. If they do not indicate the need for a conference and you would still like to set one up, you will be able to do so.

2017-2018 CLASSROOM PLACEMENT

Although we are still in the early stages of the third trimester, planning for the 2019-2020 school year has already begun. It is hard to believe that my first year at Lincoln is nearing an end, I have enjoyed every minute of it. Now the work for planning for next year begins. Below you will find a letter regarding parent input that helps us plan for next year.

From the Secretary

With Spring comes change and it is with mixed emotions that I announce my departure from Lincoln at the end of this school year. I have decided to pursue a position where I can focus more on the administrative duties in my career. I will be replacing the current Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Corron, who is retiring this summer.

I have deep roots with Lincoln. I began as a parent here and then started my career at Lincoln a few years later. The staff, student and parent community has always been amazing and I was fortunate to return to Lincoln in my administrative position here.

As we all look to the weeks and months ahead I want to assure you that I will be doing all that I can to help us successfully finish this school year. Mrs. Woodring has begun the steps of finding my replacement and I will do all that I can to help this process go as smooth as possible.

Although I won’t be seeing you on a daily basis, I will still be in the district and community. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and your child(ren) over these past 15 years!

As you read above, Diane Eageny, Lincoln's administrative assistant and welcoming face of our front office is deciding to make a change. First of all, I would like to thank her for all the help and support my first year at Lincoln and congratulate her on her new adventure in the district. Her knowledge of the school, parents, the community has been invaluable, and I know she will be a difficult person to follow but we will begin looking for her replacement.

The AT placement letters for those students who participated in district placement testing will be mailed Tuesday, April 9th, 2019.

If a family would like to decline or appeal the placement, notification is due to the school by April 19th, 2019.

Hello, Families of Fourth Grade students!

Spring marks the time of the school year where fourth-grade students learn about the band program and the instruments that make up the band. The most exciting part is that your child will have the opportunity to become a part of this successful District 303 band program! Our high school programs are Grammy nominated and travel domestically and internationally to share their musical talents!

We’ll start with a Band Launch Party on Monday, May 6th. At this event, fourth graders will learn about all of the band instruments, watch a short video featuring musicians from the high schools, and hear a live performance of our current 5th-grade band.

Permission slips to try band instruments will be handed out to students at this event. You will also receive an email with a permission slip that you can fill out online. You only need to submit one permission slip (paper or online).

After trying out a few instruments and a student chooses the instrument he/she would like to play, there will be an Open House Band Registration Night. Tuesday, May 21st at Thompson Middle School 6th grade Campus from 5-7pm. (Families that qualify for the Free/Reduced Lunch program also qualify for Free/Reduced participation fees and District 303 instrument rental fees.)

Please take a look at the “TedEd” video. It’s less than five minutes and shares the research and results of how playing a musical instrument positively impacts the brain.

Lincoln Student council will host a family dance next Friday, April 12. The dance is for all ages and families of Lincoln. Below are the details.
