Walkathon
Thank You!
Despite the record-breaking rain, our 2024 Walkathon was a success thanks to the incredible efforts of our PEC, fundraising committee, parent volunteers, school staff, and student leadership team. Thank you all for your efforts.
The biggest thank you goes to our families and parishioners who joined the fun, raised funds, and walked the route. We are still calculating the revenue from this event, but we can say without hesitation that we are thrilled with how the event turned out.
Our class and individual winners will be announced in next week's newsletter.
Scholastic Book Fair and Raffle
Thank you to all of our families who supported the Scholastic Book Fair. The raffle brought in $800 for our library and we sold over $3200 worth of books, giving the school 30% back to spend in rewards. Thank you so much for your support!
A special thank you to Mrs. Koh and her team of volunteers who helped set up, take down, and run the book fair. A special shout out to our Gr. 7 leaders who helped at the Book Fair as well!

Grade 2 First Confession Meeting
The first in our series of Sacramental Preparation Evenings for Grade 2 parents will occur on Wednesday, October 30th at 7 PM.
Harvest Festival
On Thursday, October 31, at 2 PM, each class will perform a song at our inaugural Harvest Festival in the gym. Students are encouraged to wear harvest-themed costumes, such as scarecrows, farmers, pumpkins, or autumn colors like orange, black, purple, and brown. Please remember to bring a generous donation of non-perishable food items to help support those in need in our parish community and share the harvest with others!
Halloween Candy
We will once again be collecting Halloween candy in support of our Catholic Ministries in Vancouver. We send and distribute these candy gifts to remind the residents of the Downtown Eastside that they are cared for and loved. The candy bags made up from these donations are a means to engage in conversation with those most vulnerable in our city and allow the opportunity for volunteers to offer words of hope, prayer, and guidance.
Boxes will be placed below the stairs outside the office and students are encouraged to bring in some of their Halloween treats to share with others.

Volunteers Needed
Hot Lunch
The PA is looking for more volunteers to join our Hot Lunch team. As we attempt to introduce more in-house prepped meals, we need more hands on deck. Volunteer shifts are 2-4 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kitchen volunteering is a very rewarding personal experience that promotes a stronger school community. By offering delicious and healthy lunches to students, volunteers help create happy memories for our children, while working together contributes to a strong team spirit among parents. Nothing unites people like food and working together! Come and be a part of team Hot Lunch! Email us at pa@smeschool.ca if you are interested.
SME Gala
The SME Gala 2025 is seeking TUPS volunteers for the evening of March 1st from 6 PM - 10 PM. Volunteers should have a valid BC criminal record check completed. Volunteers are also needed for the main event inside the school gym.

Hail, Mary, full of grace,

Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
