Message from the Principal
Dear Community Academy Families,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful and joyful holiday break, filled with moments to recharge and spend time with loved ones. As we return to school and begin a brand-new year, I want to express how excited I am for all that 2025 has in store for our high school community. A new year brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, and accomplish amazing things together. Let’s make it a year filled with positivity, progress, and success!
As we dive into this next phase of the school year, I encourage everyone to set meaningful goals and approach the months ahead with determination and optimism. Whether you’re focused on academic achievements, excelling in extracurricular activities, or building stronger connections with peers and teachers, now is the time to dream big and work hard. Remember, our school is a place where everyone is supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, share your ideas, or try something new—you have a community here that’s cheering you on.
Thank you to all of our students, families, and staff for making this school such a special place. Your commitment, hard work, and care make a tremendous impact, and I’m truly grateful to be part of this incredible community. Let’s start 2025 strong, and I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things we’ll accomplish together. Here’s to a happy, healthy, and successful year!
Best wishes,
Anthony Richichi
High School Principal

January Fun Facts
Did you know?
1. January is named after the Roman god Janus, who was the god of beginnings, transitions, and doorways. Fittingly, Janus is often depicted with two faces—one looking to the past and one to the future, just like how we reflect on the old year and plan for the new one.
2. It’s National Soup Month! What better way to stay warm during the cold winter days than by enjoying a comforting bowl of your favorite soup? Whether it’s chicken noodle, tomato, or something adventurous, January is the perfect time to celebrate this cozy dish.
3. The first New Year’s ball drop in Times Square happened in January 1908. It’s now an iconic tradition watched by millions around the world, marking the start of the new year with a glittering spectacle.

Quick Bits of News
2024 Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Flyers Now Available!!!
Pennsylvania Act 84 of 2015 requires that public and nonpublic schools receive electronic notice with general information about the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) on an annual basis no later than August 15. The attached flyer was created and should be shared with every parent or guardian of every student enrolled in the local education agency (LEA) during the school year.
CHIP covers uninsured children and teens up to age 19 – and no family earns too much to qualify. With nearly 128,000 uninsured children in Pennsylvania, this is great news for families!
CHIP provides quality, comprehensive health insurance for routine doctor’s visits, prescriptions, dental, eye care, eyeglasses, mental health, and much more. CHIP covers uninsured kids who are not eligible for Medical Assistance. For many families, CHIP is free – for others, it is low cost.
Parent and Family Engagement
Parents and guardians, the following documents describe CAP's commitment to engaging families in their child's education. Please review each of the documents and reach out to your school Principal if you have any questions
LIHEAP Program Available to Families in Need
CAP participates in the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP is a provision from the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which allows schools and local educational agencies (LEAs) with high poverty rates to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students. CEP eliminates the burden of collecting household applications to determine eligibility for school meals, relying instead on information from other means-tested programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
