Happy November! We have a short, but active month ahead of us. We will be starting off with Veteran's Day Celebrations and then ending the month with our Thanksgiving Break.

This year we will be celebrating our Veterans with a continental breakfast and assembly to show our appreciation for all that they do, and have done for us. Students are welcome to come with their families to the continental breakfast. If you or someone is a Veteran please provide the information in the below link so we can make our celebration even better than before. Also, if you have a picture that we can add to our slide show of current, past or deceased Veterans please send it in with your child with the Veteran's name on the back by November 4th.

We are excited to have our students participate in our Turkey Trot again this year. Students will be walking/jogging around our back field to music on November 22nd. Be ready to see some fun pictures of our students with their friends.

Second Quarter Awards Assembly Friday, January 10th @9:00 in the gym. Your child's teacher will reach out to you to let you know if your child will be receiving an award for the 2nd Quarter.

In preschool we just finished studying the five senses and now we are studying the season of fall. We had a pumpkin patch where students picked, weighed, washed and painted pumpkins!! We are having a great time learning in Preschool!!!

If you would like to volunteer in your child's classroom, or go on any field trips, you must go through Volunteer Training. We will be having Volunteer Training in room 608 @4:30 on the following dates:

• Wednesday, September 4th
• Wednesday, November 20th
• Wednesday, February 19th
• Wednesday, April 23rd

All Things E.Q. Program for all students - A social-emotional program that transforms school culture and prepares students to “show up” positively for themselves and one another to achieve academic success and social-emotional well-being. The Second Quarter we will be working on the following:

• Week of October14th - I pay attention to what I tell myself.
  
• Week of October 21st - I know what I am looking forward to today.
• Week of October 28th - I make the most out of every experience
• Week of November 4th - Mistakes can be helpful if I let them.
• Week of November 11th - I say "Goodbye" to my unhelpful self-talk.
• Week of November 18th - I steer clear of gossip.
• Week of December 2nd - The cure for boredom is curiosity.
• Week of December 9th - I learn from others rather than compare myself to others.
• Week of December 16th - I choose what I believe about myself.

During our Early Release/PD Dates teachers will be reviewing student data and collaboratively working together to plan how to best support students throughout the school year.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. We use ‘students’ to refer to all children and youth in any educational or therapeutic setting (e.g., K-12 school, early childhood program, treatment program, juvenile justice program). Our new PBIS Acronym is S.O.A.R. Silverhawks show Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect. Please help us to instill these behaviors at home, so we can all "S.O.A.R. to #Extraordinary Heights Together!"
