The Tonasket School District is currently looking to fill a Health Room Assistant position starting the 2025/26 school year.

JOB DESCRIPTION
HS Special Education Resource Room/Transition Teacher
DEPARTMENT: District
REPORTS TO: Building Administrators/Registered Nurse
WORK DAYS: Monday – Friday, 6.5 hours per day, 8:15 am – 3:15 pm, 181 days per year
Job Summary: To provide support for the Registered Nurse (RN), including providing basic first aid, routine and emergency health assessment, treatment, and referral services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct routine and emergency health duties and referrals.
Dispense medications with training and delegation from the RN, such as, but not limited to, oral and injectable medications, in accordance with state laws and established district procedures. Document medication administration, including name of medication, dosage amount, administration time, authorizations, and related information in an electronic system or alternative documentation system as directed.
Maintain student health records and records of students requiring medical attention in an electronic system or alternative documentation system as directed; compile data for reports.
Assist medically fragile students with toileting, personal hygiene, use of medical equipment, and other services as trained and delegated by school district licensed staff.
Coordinate the preparation of various student health screenings including, but not limited to, distance and near vision screenings and hearing screenings.
Screen students for head lice and infectious diseases and issue exposure notices as necessary.
Maintain and update student health files, including health history, immunization records, screening results, accident reports, emergency medical records, disability reports, and referrals.
Communicate with students, parents, RN, district staff, and health care providers regarding immunizations, vision, hearing, and dental screenings, allergies, and other health conditions.
Distribute health care management information (e.g., lice, personal hygiene, infectious disease information) under the direction of the RN for the purpose of instructing teachers, students, and/or parents on a variety of health-related subjects.
Requisition equipment or supplies needed in school health office(s).
Maintain school health office(s) in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition; maintain disaster and first aid kits for campus and field trips.
Protect the confidentiality of student health information.
Perform various clerical duties, including producing reports, correspondence, forms, notices, rosters, and referrals.
Operate a variety of contemporary office equipment. Perform related duties as assigned.
Participate in meetings with staff, RN, and parents that revolve around the health of the student and their success in school.
Perform related duties as assigned to ensure school health services' efficient and effective functioning.
Report all relevant information about students and/or visitors to the RN.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Basic first aid, CPR, and routine and emergency health assessment techniques, preferably in a K-12 public education environment.
District health policies, laws, codes, rules, and regulations related to student health services.
Operate a computer to store or retrieve information; produce documents and reports using programs, including MS Word and Excel.
Provide assistance and perform treatments adhering to health services procedures and practices.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with students, parents, school site staff, and district staff.
Telephone and email etiquette.
Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and business vocabulary.
Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
Work independently and with minimal supervision.
Work effectively in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
Work collaboratively with others.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Possession and maintenance of a valid First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
Good work history and attendance.
Experience in school health services, the medical field, and/or any combination of training or experience that would likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities is desired.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
