ACCESS Testing Dates
The ACCESS Test is a reading, writing, listening and speaking test given to students whose home language is not English, is a different dialect of English, or who have had ML services in the past. The purpose of the test is to evaluate their progress in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in academic English.
The results of the ACCESS Test will be used to help determine ML level and ML services. A student’s results may allow them to exit ML services, or may affect the classes they will take next school year.
The State of Minnesota requires them to take this test each year until they pass it and are exited from ML services. Even though they may not be in an ML class right now, they are still required to take the test.
Students and families will receive further information in the coming weeks of what dates/hours they will take this test if applicable to them. Testing starts Feb 4th and runs through Feb 25th for all students who have an ML identification in our system. If you have questions about ACCESS testing please contact Ashley Brown (ashley.brown@ahschools.us).

Winter weather reminders
Minnesota weather is shifting gears, and the Anoka-Hennepin School District has plans in place for when extreme winter weather arrives.
The safety of all students is the first priority when determining if schools should stay open in adverse weather. If a determination is made to close school due to extreme winter weather, the district will alert families in a variety of ways, including:
Phone, text or email message from AHlert system (for Anoka-Hennepin parents/guardians only).
District and school websites.
District and school social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
Media outlets including WCCO, KSTP, FOX 9, KARE 11, CCX Media, WCCO radio and Star Tribune newspaper.
Those responsible for activities scheduled in schools over the weekend will determine if adverse weather conditions necessitate a cancellation.
Read more about the district’s policies on extreme winter weather at ahschools.us/weather.
