Superintendent Update
Dear Nashoba Community,
On behalf of the educators of the Nashoba Regional School District, I want to thank you for your thoughtfulness in showing appreciation to our educators this week. Our teachers were honored with breakfasts, goodie bags, lunches, food trucks, ice cream and much more. The Center School will look forward to all of their teacher celebrations the week of May 20th and there is a lot to look forward to.
Our teachers are dedicated to the growth and development of your children. They work tirelessly to bring their best to the classroom every day, and I am grateful for all of their hard work.
While this week is recognized as National Teacher Appreciation Week, let us not forget all of the school employees who make teaching and learning possible each and every day. Our nurses, instructional assistants, office staff, custodians, food service workers, bus drivers, therapists, central office employees, and administrators all have a role to play. As a team we remain steadfast in our commitment to be our best for your children. Join me in showing appreciation to all of our educators who serve the community.
Thank you for all of your support. Have a wonderful weekend.
Peace,
Kirk Downing

Family Pizza Night for our English Learners
Last week, we proudly hosted a district-wide Family Night for our English learners and their families. This fun gathering, held at the Mary Rowlandson Elementary School, was a success with over 50 students and families in attendance. The evening featured fun games, a selection of books, and essential school supplies for students, as well as a valuable presentation on ACCESS testing for parents and caregivers. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones. The Department of Teaching and Learning extends a heartfelt thanks to our English Language Education department for their dedication and effort in making this event possible, and a special thank you to Mary Rowlandson for providing a welcoming space for our community to come together.
Great Road Podcast, Episode 6
Check out our latest podcast episode featuring the Students for Social Justice Club (SSJ) at NRHS. Formed two years ago by students in the NRHS Facing History class, SSJ is dedicated to exploring local, national, and global social justice issues. Their mission is clear: to inform others about these issues and to have a positive impact on our community.
Rooted in building awareness and affecting change, SSJ aims to unite the NRHS school community to make a difference in the wider world, both locally and globally. In this episode, you'll hear from the students themselves who are using their voices to create change. The Students for Social Justice Club provides a platform for courageous conversations that build awareness and understanding, turn ideas into action, and create opportunities to serve and make change beyond NRHS.

This Week at Nashoba
Rising Kindergarten students at Center School participated in a "Get Ready to Ride Event" sponsored by the Nashoba Community Partnership for Children and Dee Bus. Students and their parents/guardians listened to a story, learned bus safety rules and took a short ride around the neighborhood. This event was funded by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care’s Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Program.
Together, we inspire and challenge all learners to reach their unique potential and become active contributors to their community.
