NBC5 WEATHER UPDATES BROADCASTED FROM ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL
A two-person NBC5 crew, consisting of Ms. Marissa Vigevani and a camera man, were present at the front entrance of the school from 4:30 to 8:00 AM on Friday, May 10th. Students began to show up at 6:00 AM to assist Ms. Vigevani, with her regular weather updates. You can see what one of those updates looked like in the video clip below. NBC5 filmed some extra video clips that were to be used later in the day. The Adventurers kindergarteners were a big help in this regard.

If you are looking for one small way to do something about climate change, consider joining the the final Walking Wednesday event of the school year on June 5th - Stewardship Day. The goal will be to have as many students and staff members walk / bike/ scooter / skate to school as possible. Of course you are also welcome to Join in on the remaining Walking Wednesdays prior to Stewardship Day.

All week long, students and staff members wrote words of thanks and kindness to the staff members of St. Albans City School. The posters were all full when teachers took them home on Friday afternoon. There were so many good thoughts shared with staff. Heartwarming. Thanks everyone.

Ms. Sato's students are learning about fractions in a new learning unit. A visiting instructor reported that Ms. Sato creates a really engaging, fun, and adaptive learning environment.

FREE TREES FOR ST. ALBANS RESIDENTS
St. Albans residents are eligible for trees to plant in their yard through Community Canopy, an Arbor Day Foundation program.
Residents register for up to two free trees at vtcommunityforestry.org/trees. The online sign-up process guides participants to the best locations to plant trees to help cool their homes, reduce energy usage, and save money. Residents can also sign-up by phone by calling the Arbor Day Foundation at 855-234-3801.
The trees must be reserved in advance and will be available for pick-up on Saturday, June 1, 10am-12pm at the St. Albans City School (29 Bellows Street).
The tree giveaway is being coordinated by the St. Albans City School and the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program, a partnership between the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation and University of Vermont Extension.
THIS SUMMER READ BOOKS TO WIN ACCESS AND PRIZES AT THE CHAMPLAIN VALLEY FAIR
The Champlain Valley Fair has partnered with Libraries around the state to promote reading. St. Albans Free Library is one of those librarys. Students who read three books over the summer can qualify for a free 1-day pass to the fair, a coupon for a $5 ice cream, and a free book.
