Our Georgia Milestones (GMAS) Math scores have been released, and we are so excited about our results. Overall, 88.5% of our students performed on or above grade level in math. This GMAS assessment is one of the tools we use to measure our effectiveness. These tests are taken by all 3rd-5th graders in the spring. Our ELA results were released earlier this year, and the Math results were just shared this month. Some schools report the percentage of students scoring 2-4, which for us was 99%, but we are thrilled with how many students were performing on and above grade level! We are continuing the great work this year and are so proud of our students and their hard work.

The results from the 2023-2024 school year for ELA and 5th grade science were released at the start of the school year and published in the State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). Student scores for MATH are now accessible as well via your child’s Infinite Campus portal (Please click here for step-by-step instructions on how to set up your account.). You will need to click on the SLDS Portal link once you are logged in.

We appreciate your patience as we waited for the state to release the math scores due to the implementation of the new math standards.

We're excited to continue our plans for Bingo night now on Thursday October 10th. This is the same night as the Book Fair, so it will be a fun night at Wilson Creek!

We are excited to be opening our Book Fair for families to come enjoy and make purchases together! Our family event will take place tonight, October 10th from 5:00-7:00. Join us in the Media Center to check out the book fair for one final night of purchasing!

Enjoy a nice fall break with your kids next Monday-Wednesday. We will be excited to see our Wildcats again on Thursday, October 18.

We are joining with Northview HS and encouraging our students and staff to wear pink on Friday, October 18 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This disease has impacted so many and we stand with those who are breast cancer survivors and those who are still fighting. I hope we see a cure for breast cancer soon.

We will be having an open PTO meeting on October 25, 2024 in the cafeteria. If you are planning to attend this meeting and you have something you would like to share or ask, please complete the form below so we are prepared for your questions and can allocate time appropriately. Thank you.

Congratulations to Alicia Kim, Jack Shapiro, Graham Apuzzo, Jeremiah Dennis, Emmanuel Okudjeto, Cameron MacConnell, Cyslia Joe Ram Kumar, Vivaan Sinha, Nova Nelson, Jessie Kim, Anya Ratheesh, Isla Lau, and Sarah Bijani. They were selected by their bus drivers as the Bus Rider of the Month because they are consistently following the rules and are kind to others on the bus. Keep up the great work!

Wilson Creek's Family Outdoor Movie Night!

It’s time to treat your children to a fun night at the movies with their friends!

Here are some important notes:

• Students voted “COCO” for this year’s movie – Rated PG

• It's Halloween time, so feel free to wear costumes!
• EVERYBODY ATTENDING NEEDS A TICKET
• Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with a Pre-Show (Live DJ). The movie starts at approximately 7:00 p.m.
• Admission is $5.00/person and includes a popcorn.
• Movie will be held OUTSIDE so please bring comfortable seating such as blankets/sleeping bags or beach chairs and insect repellant.
• This is a family event, therefore NO DROPPING OFF OF CHILDREN. If you are not attending with your child, please make sure your child is with a responsible adult.
• Parents, please make sure your child/children remain outdoors unless they are using the restroom.

During the month of November, your student will be participating in an important personal safety lesson called Think First and Stay Safe. The lesson is presented by our School Counselor, Ms. Khedr, to students in every grade. She will be in the classrooms teaching essential personal safety skills with a positive, non-threatening approach.

If you would not like your student to participate in the lesson, please fill out and return the attached opt out form to your child’s homeroom teacher by October 25, 2024.

October is National Bullying Prevention month, and our creating character word of the month is inclusion. In our classroom lessons, we will be talking about how bullying prevention and inclusion work together. Promoting a school community where every student, regardless of their background or abilities, feels valued, respected, and welcomed is our goal at WCES. We encourage kindness, empathy, and understanding to create a supportive environment for all. Let’s celebrate our differences and embrace the power of inclusion!
