BCCA MESSENGER July 6, 2020
Harmoniously blending the work of redemption and education
BCCA Families,
I hope everyone has been having a fun and safe summer! We are closely monitoring the situation with Covid-19 and continuning to ensure we follow CDC guidelines. We are still on track to open on August 10 with our registration on August 2. The BCCA Board Members understand your concerns, and are working diligently to implement a plan for the reopening of our school. Our School Board is meeting on July 13 (Monday) to finalize plans/procedures, and a follow up email with all the details will be sent out. The safety and concerns of our families is our number one priority. We will take every precaution we need in order to open safely. Continue to pray with us as we seek the guidance and will of God, while we manuever through these challenging times together. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to contact me is by email - l.smith@bigcovesda.net.
“Our ideas of education take too narrow and too low a range. There is need of a broader scope, a higher aim. True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come.”

Welcome Wendy Boyd! Our Newest Teacher to the BCCA Team
I'm excited to welcome Wendy Boyd, our new teacher for grades 1-4! She grew up in Upstate New York. However, she has spent most of her life in Chattanooga after she graduated from Southern University, where she is currently working on completing her Master's Degree. She is constantly reading and researching to stay up-to-date on the latest in education so she can reach the youth.
What better way to get to know Wendy than through her philosophy of teaching. She states the following:
"As an Adventist teacher I feel extremely blessed that I get to do what I love doing the most, which is, teaching children about how much Jesus loves them and instilling in them a lifelong love of learning. I want every day that a student spends in my classroom to be a learning adventure. If I were to describe my educational philosophy I would say that I believe that one of the only ways to teach a student effectively is to take into consideration the whole student including their mental, their physical, and their spiritual needs. I also believe that the best learning and remembering for a student comes from real life, hands on experiences. This means that when you visit my classroom at any given time you will see us doing the kinds of hands-on activities that enhance remembering and guide students to make real life as well as biblical connections to their own life. It also means that you will see strong academics with a community of learners who are committed to working together, working hard, and feeling always challenged to do their best. I believe strongly that in order to provide a strong and solid Christian education for our young people it “TAKES A VILLAGE” so I will be looking forward to meeting everyone and to working collaboratively with each student’s family as well as the Huntsville Central Church, and BCCA faculty and volunteers."
“The future of the world is in my classroom today. If we don't teach our children to follow Christ,
the world will teach them not to."
