Flexible Instruction Days FID
As you are aware, our first snow day was used as professional development for our teachers. This seemed to work out well. They were able to complete online training, long term planning and dive into data. It was a great trial run.
Moving forward the remaining snow/cold days will be FIDs.
FID is an instruction format that the school utilizes when there is advanced notice that school will not be in session, most often, a weather disturbance (ie: a snow day). These days count as an instructional school day. Parents will be notified of an FID via School Messenger (text/email/phone call)
Kindergarten: packets have been sent home with instructions, look for an email
1st - 5th: teachers will send an email with assignments
6th - 8th: teachers will prepare assignments via Schoology or email; students should check both.
Students have two days to complete the work.
Work can be completed anytime during the day.
Office Hours: Teachers will offer office hours or a manner in which students and parents can ask questions. Individual teachers will establish their office hours and will include that information in the email that they send.

Armed Intruder/Active Shooter Presentation with Mr. Stec
Please RSVP as soon as possible for this event.
Date: Monday, January 20, 2025
Time: 7:00PM
Location: OLVCS Campus, room dependent on attendee number
RSVP: stect@olvcs.org, also respond if you will need childcare during the presentation. We will arrange to have ASAP workers available to babysit. Children who will be attending must be bathroom trained.
-This will be similar to the training that Mr. Stec presents annually to faculty and staff and useful everywhere, not just at school. It will also provide you with a better understanding of how well our staff and students are educated and trained on this topic. Incorporated into this presentation is the harmful toll that social media is taking on our kids and how social media accounts and online postings many times offer early warning signs of pending violence or self harm.
