A note from Mrs. Estenson...
Toro Community,
Hope you all are having a great long weekend and are able to enjoy some sunshine and relaxation.
We have a very busy and exciting few weeks ahead. This week, we will be hosting our Back to School Night on Wednesday 9/4 from 5-7:30. 5-5:30 will be time for the community to enjoy the Food Trucks and Community Fair (see community partners below that will be joining us). 5:30-6, I will be hosting a parent meeting about Title I and briefly about our school. 6-7:30, you will be able to follow your student’s schedule and meet their teachers. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.
The week of September 9th-13th, we will be having our Welcome Back Spirit week. Each day this week, there will be a themed dress up day. That Tuesday, we will be holding Grade Level Spirit rallies in the afternoon where students will show their Toro Pride and participate in some healthy competition and fun. We will conclude the week with our Welcome Back dance for all grade levels. Permission slips went out to them on Friday. We will be sending out more information about this party this week. We are excited to have some fun and celebrate our wonderful community.
We are also excited to announce that we have an official paint day for our Color Corps Mural, which will be Saturday, October 19th! We will be sending out more information soon. Please save the date!
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week. Please see more information and important dates below.
Best,
Mrs. Estenson

Counseling Corner
Hello Toro Families! We are the new school counselors! Over the past few weeks, we have been getting to know the staff and students and we visited history classes so that all EDMS students could “Meet the Counselors.” We introduced ourselves, talked about what we do and how we can support them at school this year.
So what do middle school counselors DO? We support our students in three areas - academic, social-emotional and college & career. We will push into classes to teach lessons, hold small groups and meet with some students one-on-one to provide brief solution-focused counseling. Our goal is to support students so that they can be engaged, empowered and prepared for learning. We partner with families, teachers, admin, and other school staff to help our students have the best middle school experience possible.
Middle school is a huge transition for our kiddos! And let’s be honest, this can come with its fair share of challenges and stress. Between increased academic responsibilities, changing friendships, and tricky social situations, middle school students need lots of academic and social-emotional support. We are here to help with that. We believe that all students deserve to learn at a school where they can feel safe, healthy and happy. We look forward to working with you this year! Ms. Martinez and Ms. Wilson
