Music Department Director - Mr. Collin Zier
Mr. Zier, a dedicated and passionate educator, has been a cornerstone of the Orangeville School District's K-12 music program for an inspiring five years. His unwavering commitment to teaching and his genuine love for music have left an indelible mark on the students fortunate enough to be under his guidance.
Mr. Zier's enthusiasm for music goes beyond the notes and rhythms; it is about instilling a deep-seated passion for the art form in each student. He understands that music has the power to not only enrich lives but also to inspire creativity, discipline, and a love for learning.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Zier harbors a vision to extend the reach of his musical influence to even more students. His goal is clear: to teach the joy of music to as many young minds as possible. Through his dedication, he aspires to build the Orangeville music department into a thriving space where young people can discover, nurture, and explore their musical talents.
In Mr. Zier's hands, the Orangeville music department is not just a place for learning notes and scales; it is a vibrant and dynamic space where students are encouraged to unleash their creativity, express themselves, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of music.
As he continues to shape the musical journey of the students at Orangeville, we applaud Mr. Zier for his exemplary commitment and tireless efforts to create a thriving musical community within the school. Here's to many more years of fostering a love for music and inspiring the next generation of talented musicians!
Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser - Update
Hello Orangeville community and families,
A big round of applause to everyone who contributed to this year's spring Little Caesar's Pizza Kit fundraiser! Thanks to your fantastic support, we successfully raised an impressive $1,350.00 for the music department. This funding will be instrumental in our efforts to enhance the music room by adding new storage facilities and acquiring fresh sheet music for the entire department next year. We truly appreciate each and every one of you for your invaluable contributions. Together, we're making a significant difference for our music department!
Conference Music Festival
On March 15th, a group of talented Orangeville band and choir members had the honor of participating in the area conference music festival. This special event brings together the top musicians from area bands and choirs for a day of learning under the guidance of a distinguished guest conductor. Following a day of rehearsals, these students showcased their musical prowess by performing together that evening.
Congratulations to Laney, Mason, Alex, Abigail, Haylee, Elizabeth, and Ronni for their outstanding participation in this prestigious event. Their dedication and musical excellence truly shone brightly, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements!
Organization Contest
The Organizational Contest offers an opportunity for High School Music students to showcase their talents as a cohesive ensemble and receive evaluative feedback. During this year's contest, the High School Band presented a repertoire comprising three pieces: "March from SUITE in Eb" by Gustav Holst, "Exhale" by Sean O'Loughlin, and "Sons of Liberty" by Larry Neeck. Similarly, the High School Choir performed three selections: "The Call" arranged by Dianne Gryba, "Sisi ni moja" by Jacob Narverud, and "Dream On" arranged by Mark Brymer. Both groups were awarded a rating of two by the adjudicators, indicative of a commendable performance level. Overall, the collective efforts of our high school music ensembles resulted in a solid and noteworthy presentation.

We are immensely proud of their hard work and dedication, which shone brightly throughout the evening.
Additionally, we were thrilled to showcase the debut performance of the newly formed Orangeville Jazz/Pop Choir. This exciting addition to our music department has generated a lot of enthusiasm, and we're eagerly looking forward to continuing and expanding it in the coming year.

Above and Beyond the Orangeville Music Department
We'd like to take a moment to celebrate several Orangeville students and staff members for their outstanding commitment to music beyond the walls of Orangeville CUSD. These dedicated individuals actively participate in the Highland Community College band, attending weekly practices and performing in concerts throughout the year.
For students Mason, Ronni, and Shae, their involvement in the Highland Community College band is not just a musical endeavor but also an invaluable opportunity to expand their musical knowledge, explore diverse musical genres, and collaborate with a larger ensemble. We commend them for their dedication to music, and we look forward to witnessing their continued growth and passion for music throughout their lives.
Furthermore, we are grateful to have our school staff members, Mr. Zier and Ms. Goeke, participating alongside our students in the Highland Community College band. Their involvement serves as an inspiring example for our students, demonstrating that music can be enjoyed and cherished beyond their school years. Mr. Zier's commitment to music and dedication to providing these opportunities for our students to thrive musically is truly commendable. Similarly, Ms. Goeke's role as a musical role model enriches the experiences of our students and encourages them to pursue their musical interests with enthusiasm.
Thank you to Mason, Ronni, Shae, Mr. Zier, and Ms. Goeke for your unwavering dedication to music and for positively impacting the musical community at Orangeville CUSD. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and serve as a source of inspiration for us all.
