Falcon Update: Issue 11

Hello Fitz Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final week of the second quarter! The past couple of weeks have been full of activity and excitement here at Fitz. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Winter Concert. It was a great evening filled with beautiful music and dance performances that truly showcased the talents of our students.

As we close out this quarter, please note the following important updates:

• Benchmark Testing: Testing will take place on Tuesday, December 17, and Wednesday, December 18.
• Schedule Adjustments:
  • There will NOT be a collaboration schedule on Wednesday. Students will be dismissed at 2:20 pm.
  • Minimum Days are scheduled for Thursday, December 19, and Friday, December 20, with students released at 12:27 pm.

We want to wish all of our Fitz families a joyful and restful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories with family and friends. When we return in the new year, it will be 2025!

Winter Recess and Non-Student Day:

• December 23 – January 6
• Students Return: Tuesday, January 7, to kick off Quarter 3.

On Tuesday, December 10, our talented Falcons took center stage during our Winter Concert. The evening was filled with unforgettable performances by Ballet Folklorico, Choir, Band, Orchestra, Drumline, and Mariachi Los Halcones de Fitz, all showcasing their dedication and skills in front of a packed audience of family and friends.

The countless hours of practice and hard work our students put in were evident in every performance. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and applaud their outstanding efforts.

A special thank you goes out to Ms. Zamora, Dr. Hernandez, Mr. Nguyen, and Mr. Ramos for their guidance, support, and instruction, which were instrumental in bringing this event to life.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing PTO for the beautiful stage decorations that created a warm and festive holiday ambiance, making the night even more special.

Last week, we wrapped up our exciting Championship Pickleball Game! It was a fantastic season that saw many students participating and enjoying the game during lunch. Congratulations to the 8th-grade team of Charlie and Mason for taking home the gold medals!

A special thank you to Ms. Roman and Mr. Couch for organizing the season and creating a healthy, safe space for students to connect, stay active, and have fun every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch. We look forward to more successful seasons ahead!

• Garden Grove Unified is hosting online workshops to help families with immigration-related questions. Learn about your rights and how to protect your family with insights from district leaders and from our partners at the World Relief Organization.

• School Ends: 12:27 pm

From December 16th to January 10th, Fitz Intermediate will be hosting a Clothing Drive to restock our Clothing Closet. We are accepting donations of new or gently used jackets, sweaters, shirts, and pants, which will be made available to ALL students.

Your generosity will directly support our Fitz community, helping ensure that every student has access to essential clothing items. Thank you for making a difference!
