Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- Happy Friday! Welcome to Ridgeline High School, the Place That Never Sleeps! Some weeks I feel like I could send a newsletter every other day, just to keep up with these kids! The academic and extra-curricular highlights I share each week are made possible by our motivated and dedicated staff members. Without them, the development and success of our students would not be as outstanding. If at any point this year, you’ve had a moment you observed, or heard about from your student, and thought, “huh, that’s pretty cool.” Then take a minute to let that teacher, coach, or staff member who made a positive impression, know how you feel. Go to your email—send a note, pick up the phone—leave a message. It’s never too late, and never too soon. The smallest gesture goes a long way to our educators who give so much of themselves, and often have to make sacrifices in their own lives to make great things happen! A not-so-small gesture came our way Thursday from our Amazing Booster Club. They treated our ENTIRE staff to a catered luncheon from 3 Ninjas. What a treat! It’s a funny cultural dynamic in schools where that sacred lunch break is so important every day. And people get so excited when they don’t have to think about what to bring for lunch! On behalf of all our team here, we Thank You, and appreciate your support!
Also, Thank you to our parents, faculty, and students who participated in the accreditation forum last Friday. We know it’s tricky to find time in the middle of the day for something like this, so thank you for working it out and making it happen. Overall, we’re on the right track, as a school. We’ve got a few things to focus on our improvement efforts as well. More details to come after our final presentation to the state on May 20.
Our boys soccer and baseball teams made school history with their first GSL Championship Titles! Congrats boys! We have highlights from several of our other state competing teams in today’s Flyer below.
AP testing begins on Monday, with about a third of our student body participating in at least one exam. See the schedule below. Note the test date, time, and location. Thank you to our counselors Megan McMurtrey, and Kelli Plaster for their meticulous organization over the course of this school year.
FYI…for current and future AP parents: AP tests are sponsored by the National College Board. They call all the shots on every detail of the test preparation and delivery. They control the minute the test starts and ends, every word that is spoken, every deadline, and every fee. We’re basically middle-men for the college board. This matters, because we have little or no power when a student or parent has an issue. So next year when you’re registering for AP testing, please make sure you read all the fine print and ask lots of questions. Our goal is to avoid surprises!
We celebrated our Secretary/Administrative Assistant team this week. Talk about a super-group! Ok, I admit it—they keep the school running! They 100% support nearly every aspect of my role as principal. I’m incredibly grateful to work beside such as amazing team!
Today you’ll notice we’re gearing up for another blood drive this month. Every time we do this I’m reminded how critically low our blood supply usually is in our region. We encourage students, staff, and all community members who want to donate, to make an appointment by scanning the easy QR code and join us at Ridgeline on the 24th. It should be a bloody good time! ….no?
All right, last item of business… We have an epic, family-oriented, event happening with our spring musical, Tuck Everlasting! What a great opportunity to get the kids away from their technology and out of the house for such a special treat! This musical production will evoke every emotion in your mind and body, while thoroughly entertaining. At opening night, last night, I was basically awe-struck by the scenes, music, and- of course, by the amazing performances from some of Ridgeline’s most talented students! You won’t be disappointed! Click below for tix!
Keep reading just bit more so you don’t miss out on all the Flyer has to offer!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

Graphic Arts 1 & 2
Thank you, Emily Fry, STCU Graphic Designer, and soon-to-be graduate from the SFCC Graphic Design program. On Tuesday in Graphic Arts 1 & 2, Emily shared her story of how she decided to pursue graphic design as a career, her learning process as a student in the SFCC program, and her internship experience at STCU. She was inspiring to listen to, and had tons of great advice on how to be a successful graphic designer. The best part of her presentation is that she gave little tidbits of information throughout that can be applied to any future career choice our Falcons may make.
Emily, thank you! We appreciate you dedicating half of your work day to giving back to our Ridgeline students, and congratulations on your pending graduation, and being hired as a full-time graphic designer at STCU. 💚
