CPR Training
All students classified as 12th graders had the opportunity to receive CPR training. It's required for graduation and we were lucky enough to have Nurse Garza come over to train them.
Snapshot Testing
Next week students in US History, Algebra I, Biology, English 1, and English 2 will take a snapshot test. This test will help their teachers determine their students' strengths and weaknesses as we prepare them for their upcoming STAAR tests. Students who are retesting in December will also participate in the testing. The testing will be done in the cafeteria starting at 8:45 am.
Tuesday, October 1 will be US History
Wednesday, October 2 will be Biology
Thursday, October 3 will be Algebra I
Monday, October 7 will be English 1 and English 2
Vaping
Vaping is a serious epidemic that is affecting the youth across our nation. Some risks of vaping are:
- Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine. Nicotine is highly addictive and can harm adolescent brain development, which continues into the early to mid-20s.
- E-cigarettes can contain other harmful substances besides nicotine.
- Young people who use e-cigarettes may be more likely to smoke cigarettes in the future.
- Vaping THC has been associated with an increased risk of developing acute adverse effects such as paranoia, psychosis, and cannabis hyperemesis syndrome when using high-potency concentrates.
The Texas legal age is 21 for the purchase, distribution, possession, purchase, consumption, or receipt of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or tobacco products. This means that it is illegal for students to have any vaping contraband in their possession, especially on a school campus (40 Tex. Admin. Code § 744.2603(d)).
At Endeavor High School, we have made available drug addiction counseling. It is my hope that a conversation will begin at home with the dangers of vaping or any other kind of drug addiction. Below, I have included a past article that introduces our drug counselor Mr. Ramirez of Youthworks for your review. Mr. Ramirez introduced himself to the students of Endeavor today during the activity period with a short presentation of how he can help the students with any substance abuse concerns.
If you have any concerns about your child's well-being at Endeavor, please contact me. I want to hear from you. It is my hope that we work together to make your child's Endeavor experience a positive one.
