CES- Principal Message

We had an eventful Thursday and Friday at our school this week. Lots of exciting things going on. Our WCPSS Superintendent, Dr. Taylor and our Northwestern Area Superintendent, Mr. Williams stopped by to visit our school and to see the wonderful work going on in our classrooms. On Friday, we had our first PBIS Pep Rally for Tracks 1 and 4 and will have Tracks 2 and 3's Pep Rally on the 13th. We introduced our Chameleon's Tail (spirit stick), announced 4th and 5th grade Ambassadors for 1st quarter, and gave one student in each class a Collaborative award as part of our CARY awards. Later in the day, all Track1 1st-5th grade students got their spelling bee list for their classroom spelling bee.

Curriculum Night for Tracks 3 and 4 will be held on September 12th.

Track 3 will begin at 5:30 and Track 4 will begin at 6:15. Teachers will share details with parents about the curriculum being taught in their classrooms this year.

Thanks to our generous donations and money raised in the spring during our Boosterthon fundraiser- our PTA was able to purchase a recess box each for K-5th grades and fill it with new equipment for them to enjoy starting tomorrow! They also purchased a shed for our Pre-K classes and our ECS class to put their larger riding toys and other equipment inside. Thank you to the Burge, Hallam, Ortiz, and Putz families for helping all day Saturday putting everything together! We can't wait for the students to enjoy everything!

Mark your calendars to join us September 12th 6:15-8pm! In addition to curriculum night for Tracks 3+4, we are encouraging families from ALL TRACKS (1, 2, 3, + 4) to join us for POPSICLES with PTA Parents AND our first annual "INFORMATION SHARING + SIGN-UP CELEBRATION" we are introducing new opportunities for families to engage with our school community, stay "in-the-know", sign-up students for special interest clubs/activities (e.g., chess, STEAM, music, sports, and more). Carpenter Elementary is participating in the annual National PTA Reflections Art Competition! The artistic theme to respond to this year is Accepting Imperfection, and entries are due by October 15.

Students can submit an entry in one of six artistic categories: visual arts (paintings, drawings, etc), music composition (an original song), photography, film production (video), literature (short stories, poetry, comics, essays), or dance choreography (captured on video). Students must include a title and an artist's statement with their work explaining how their artwork connects with this year's theme.
