Linden Middle School Newsletter

Dear LMS Families,

In preparation for a much needed spring break, our LMS Student Council is planning a spirit week for next week. See spirit day picture below for details. As shared in our last newsletter, April brings spring testing at the state and district levels. We will be administering the PSAT 8 for our 8th graders as well as the M-Step and NWEA assessments to all LMS students. Please remember that spring sports starts next week and students must have a physical on file. More information is posted below.

Lastly, the state troopers will be coming to educate our 7th & 8th grade students regarding the topic of human trafficking. This is a video based training, where two young survivors of human trafficking share their stories. After the video, the troopers will debrief with the students concerning myths and red flags of human trafficking. We know that students have access to social media and that predators use these social media apps to target adolescents. The Michigan State Police will be coming to speak to 6th grade students regarding the topic of bullying, cybersafety, and sexting. This presentation covers the laws associated with these behaviors and the possible dangers of online communication.

LMS Students will create a pinwheel garden full of blue pinwheels throughout April in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds in the United States.
