“Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”
~ Psalm 118:1
I am so excited to be celebrating my most favorite holiday of the year, Thanksgiving! It is the time of year when I pause and thank our good Lord for all the wonderful blessings that He has showered upon me.
One of those blessings that comes to mind is our remarkable middle school teacher, Kristi Shaffer. Her passion for teaching math and developing leadership skills is truly commendable! Mrs. Shaffer's patience, encouraging ways, and the various teaching strategies makes mathematics fun! She helps students understand complex concepts and encourages higher level thinking.
This year Mrs. Shaffer ventured outside of our typical curriculum and saw the need to teach our middle school students deeper leadership skills filled with wisdom and compassion. Her Christian approach and her desire to help students succeed is evident in the way she mentors and coaches her students. While teaching, Mrs. Shaffer embraced other strong Christian leaders who also assisted in this mission of helping students reach their full potential.
We are truly thankful for her love of teaching, valuing each and every student, and significantly impacting on our middle schoolers’ lives.
Thank you, Mrs. Shaffer, for your dedication to serving Christ here at CCS!
Blessings,
Principal Annas
There is so much more happening here and around CCS, so please read on for more information!
REACHING HIGHER GRADUATION
Tonight our 7th and 8th grade classes graduated from the Reaching Higher leadership program they have been participating in since the start of school. Reaching Higher is a leadership development organization that helps students to do just that ... reach higher, personally and as a student. This program is not just for students, but offers high-level leadership training to youth and adults. Our students displayed confidence as they greeted their audience and made their presentations! Many thanks to Mrs. Shaffer for leading our young leaders!
BRIGHTON HOLIDAY GLOW & CHRISTMAS MARKET
If you find yourself suddenly free tomorrow, come on by!
Cornerstone Christian School will have a booth at the Holiday Glow and Christmas Market tomorrow, Saturday, November 23rd from 1:00 to 7:00p. Click here to volunteer for one (or two 🙂) hours. Contact Liz Wood at lwood@ccsbrighton.org if you have any questions.
We invite all families to join us at the booth to spread the joy of the season as a school community.
NATIONAL DAY OF GIVING
National Day of Giving instructions were sent home last week on how to set up each student's National Day of Giving Team! Today is the last day to set up your families team to ensure your child will get ice cream on November 26th! Our fundraising event will be held online and will run from today, Friday, November 22nd through Wednesday, December 4th, overlapping with the National Day of Giving. We are hoping to raise over $45,000 to put toward fulfilling teachers’ wish lists for their classrooms, enhancing curriculum, and increasing enrichment opportunities for the students.
We had an assembly today where we discussed challenges and had a couple of skits to give the students examples of how to ask people for donations. Our closing assembly is on Friday, December 6th at 2:30p announcing winners, giving prizes, and completing challenge activities. PARENTS ARE WELCOME!
We sincerely thank you for your participation in making this fundraiser a success! Together we can reach new heights for our students and school!
CCS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
Cornerstone Christian School cordially invites you to join us for a heartwarming Christmas celebration that will fill you with joy and the true spirit of the season!
Delight in nativity scenes created by our youngest students, graceful ballet performances by our talented girls, and an expression of praise by our guest ballerina, Faith Richardson. Enjoy the reading of scripture, uplifting songs, and a few moments of laughter, all centered on celebrating our Savior's birth.
This nostalgic event is free and perfect for the whole family. We can’t wait to share this special evening with you!
Testing out costumes!
CCS CHRISTMAS STORE
The annual CCS Christmas Store is almost here! Students will have a chance to shop for friends and family on either Tuesday, December 3rd or Wednesday, December 4th.
Students (even in younger grades) will be able to shop all by themselves, with the help of a personal shopper (CCS parent volunteer) if needed!
Information came home today! You will find an envelope attached to the information. You will be using this envelope to send in spending money that your student will use to pay for the items they want to purchase. Please send the envelope back to their teacher on Monday, December 2nd...filled out, with money inside.
It's important that you sit down with your student to fill out the envelope together to help them decide who they should buy gifts for and how much they should spend. We found this was extremely helpful to students (and parent helpers!) when it came time to shop. Gift prices range between $1.00 - $12.00 each.
For payment, cash or checks are accepted, however, if you pay with a check and your student does not use all of the available funds, there won’t be a way to make change, so anything left over will be considered a donation to the school. The receipt (and any cash not spent) will be returned to the student in their envelope to bring back home.
Gifts will be wrapped by parent helpers, so special gifts for family won’t be seen until they’re opened at Christmas!
Happy shopping!!

They will have a basket for donations as students enter the chapel on Monday, and will be donating the items to a local food bank to show compassion!
Thank you for your willingness to help others in need!
ART
All of our students have been working on Aboriginal Art from Australia. Their paintings told stories, using symbols, passed down from generations. Mrs. Baker had the students tell a story about their families on each leaf using symbols. Come and check out our family symbol tree next to the library!
