Smart Watches
We need your help! With the increase of students wearing electronic watches, we have seen an uptick in students using these devices to communicate with others, including parents, during the school day. Please note that the Parent/Student Handbook (page 33) prohibits using these devices during the school day unless given permission by school personnel.
Westgate is a safe environment. It is important that students connect with the staff members with whom they have meaningful relationships to support them if they are feeling sad or having difficulty. The Westgate staff is ready and willing to help students process conflicts or problem-solve any issues. We will also reach out to parents if we feel it is necessary.
Please remind your child to keep their electronic watches in the off position while they are at school. Cell phones should also be off and in their backpacks during the school day.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Important Information on Common Illnesses in School-Age Children
School-age children are susceptible to various common illnesses.
We encourage you to take a moment to review this Information Letter on Common Illnesses for valuable guidance.
To help prevent these illnesses, please remind your child to practice healthy habits, including:
Washing hands frequently.
Staying well-hydrated.
Avoiding the sharing of personal items, food, or drinks.
Refraining from touching their eyes.
Covering their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter as we work together to keep our students healthy and safe.
Mindfulness- Our Focus for the Month of January!
A mindful manatee at school shows kindness and care for others. This friendly sea animal pays close attention when friends are talking. The manatee shares supplies invites everyone to join in fun activities, and helps classmates. By being patient and understanding, the manatee makes sure everyone feels happy and included. This caring way of being not only builds strong friendships but also helps create a friendly and supportive school where everyone feels important.
