Note from Mrs. Beiswenger
Spring is in full bloom, and we are excited for all the learning and growth happening at our school! April is a busy month filled with engaging activities, including year end testing, spring projects, and classroom celebrations. As we continue to focus on student growth, we encourage families to support learning at home by setting goals with their children and celebrating progress, both big and small. Student Support Report
~ with Ms. Jones, School Counselor & Mrs. Misek, School Social Worker
Counselor Connection:
Kinder: We focused on the importance of self-control and how we can show it in school by raising our hands, walking in the hallway, and stopping and thinking before we say or do something. We also talked about how to be a good friend and shared things that we can do well.
1st: We talked about how to show self-control, how to find our peaceful place when we are feeling strong emotions, and discussed qualities of a good friend.
2nd: We discussed strong emotions and the importance of having coping/calming strategies in our toolbox. We also talked about how every choice we make has a consequence so we need to predict what the consequence will be in order to make a good choice. It is also important to think about controlling our impulses.
3rd: We finished our organization lesson by thinking about how we can be more organized at school and at home. We looked at the different ways our bodies show us that we are starting to have strong emotions and need to use coping strategies to calm down. We discussed helpful and unhelpful strategies.
4th: We worked on conflict resolution scenarios, discussed healthy coping skills for stress management, and talked about the difference between conflict and bullying.
5th: We discussed bullying and what we can do to help in a bullying situation. The students worked in groups to come up with strategies for each scenario. We also talked about stress-what some of our stressors are, where we feel stress, and learned some stress management tips.
Schoolwide Team Update:
The HAWKS continue their streak of meeting our goal of 1,500 stickers per month. This month they earned 1799 stickers with the Strength (Green) Team contributing the most with 680 stickers. The reward for meeting our goal this month is a hat day which will take place on 4/3/25.
The upcoming life skill for the month of April is perseverance. Tomi Cimarosti and Chadwick Kramer, BPS Indian Educators, worked with two students to gather information, and they all presented about the Native American culture and perseverance during our HAWKS Happenings Assembly on 3/28/25.
Monthly Expectations Connected to Home:
Perseverance is an important life skill to practice in order to be successful in all areas of life. It helps us to overcome obstacles and accomplish big goals. You can do this as a family with these 5 simple ways shared in this short article.

Any students who qualify for free or reduced lunches may request a waiver by contacting Marisa Misek at marisa_misek@bismarckschools.org with the activities and/or passes you would like for your student.
