Principal Message
As we embrace the merry month of May, we stand on the threshold of another remarkable achievement—the completion of yet another school year. It’s a moment of reflection, celebration, and boundless gratitude. While we have many celebrations this month, we still have learning and expectations that are important. Please help us by talking with your child about the importance of knowing there are still behavioral expectations during this time of year, all while enjoying the end of year activities!
For families with students in grades 3-5, please be aware MAP testing is coming up in a few short weeks. Please try to avoid appointments, early release, and trips during the following time periods so your child can avoid any make up testing. You will receive more in-depth information about testing coming soon!
May 6-10 - 3rd and 4th Grade
May 13-16 - 5th Grade
Also, as we plan ahead for next year, if you have a child that will be entering Kindergarten in 2024-2025 please register as soon as possible. It is imperative that we know how many students will be in our entering Kindergarten class so we can prepare with the correct number of staff. If you have questions about Kindergarten registration please click here for more information.
Keep reading below to learn more about Field Day, library notes from Mrs. Goyal, notes from Nurse Munch, PTO Restaurant Night, and more!
Go Bulldogs!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jodi Oliver

Student Principal for a Day, Madison Swatske, Reflects
Being principal for a half day is really fun and important because you get to read to the kindergarteners. Another reason why being a principal for a half day is fun and important is because you get to do the announcements and tell the whole school important things. Having a badge is important because you know that you are “official.”
Another thing that is important is doing lunch and recess duty, this is important because you get to make sure everything is going smoothly and okay. Helping Dr. Oliver with the bulldog brags is fun and important because you get to help the kids receive them and feel happy for them.
Finally, writing notes to the teachers is important, so they know that we care about what they do and to let them know that they do a good job.
Sun-sational Spirit Day for Principal Appreciation Day on May 2nd!
Remind your student to wear beach attire (a favorite destination shirt or tropical clothing, sunglasses, a beach hat, but no swimsuits) to celebrate Dr. Oliver on Principal Appreciation Day on May 2nd. See the flyer below for more information.
News and Notes from the Library and Mrs. Goyal
Final Library Due Date
The end of the year will be here before we know it. Per Parkway guidelines, I need to have all library books back in the library by May 16th, this means the last day for checkout will be May 10th. If you can take a look around and return any overdue books that would very appreciated.
Summer Reading
Information about our summer reading program will be coming soon! We loved hearing from SLCL this week about summer reading, and the kids are super excited to get started.
Thank You
Thank you so much for your support of our Scholastic Book Fair. Together we raised over $3000 for our Henry library. The money will be used to finish the upper library, where we are planning a kid friendly Makerspace area, some new seating, and some fun surprises. We are hoping to have orders placed in the next few weeks. I want to thank my AMAZING parent volunteers for your help, I truly couldn't have done it without you.
Henry Field Day Volunteers Sought for May 29th
Thank you to those that have already signed up to help at Henry Field Day! There are still spots left to fill though, so please check out the opportunities here and sign up today!
Each activity has two volunteer slots that need to be filled. Please be aware, in most instances volunteering would be for the whole event day from 8:45-3:45 PM. There are a few spaces with half day options. There will be time for a break/snacks will be provided.
To volunteer at Field Day, any individual that signs up would need to be registered as a Parkway volunteer first. To start your volunteer sign up, follow this link. Questions? Email dcurran@parkwayschools.net or kpettus@parkwayschools.net.
Notes from Nurse Munch
Spring allergy season is underway. If you would like your child to have allergy medication on hand in the nurse's office, it needs to be brought into school in the original container with a signed Medication Authorization Form, which can be found here.
We also have a new Nurse Newsletter! The May Nurse Newsletter has great information on sun, heat and pedestrian safety, as well as mosquito awareness. It also includes some fun recipes for infused water to help maintain hydration on hot summer days.

PTO News and Notes
Help Make Teacher Appreciation Week May 6th to the 10th the Best Week!
The Henry PTO Teacher Appreciation Committee has planned a Taylor Swift infused week of celebration forHenry staff for this year's Teacher Appreciation week, May 6th to the 10th. Help from Henry parents is needed to make this the best week and below are four ways to get involved.
1. Sign up to donate physical items (All donations can be dropped at Henry Elementary in the office (labeled T.A. week) or at 1847 Oxborough Ct. 63017 by Sunday, May 5th.)
2. Volunteer your time (Scroll to the bottom of the sign-up page for volunteer time slots.)
3. Give a cash donation (We understand life is busy and sometimes sending money is just easier. You can make a donation through Venmo to @Carrie-Chapman-7 (last 4 digits 3229) with Henry teacher appreciation in the memo. We will use your money to purchase items for the events of this week.)
4. Have your child fill out a teacher note and drop it in the collection box located in the main office by Friday, May 3rd. (Students have already written notes to one Henry teacher of their choice, but many asked if they could write more notes of appreciation.)
