Greetings Hosmer Families!
Spring Pictures are Wednesday, April 3rd
This is a fundraiser for the fifth grade end-of-year festivities. Unlike the fall, everyone will NOT get their photo taken. Flyers have been sent home to all families and there are more in the main office if needed. Families can order online or send in the payment flyer to use the day of photos. The entire 5th grade will take a group picture together at 8:30 am.
Lost and Found
There are lots of items in our Lost & Found! We will be donating all items over April Break.
Class Placement Caregiver Input Form
Believe it or not, we are starting to get ready for next year! It is time for us to begin thinking about class placement and scheduling. Please see the note below for more information
Are You Moving Out of Watertown/Not Returning to Hosmer?
If you are planning to move out of Watertown or the Hosmer School District, please complete this form as soon as possible. This information helps us to accurately plan for the fall.
Once we receive the information, we will email you the WPS Release Form for you to fill out and return to the school secretary via email. We will use this information to send your child(ren)s records to the receiving school when staff return to school.
Kindergarten Registration is Open for next year!
Registration for kindergarten is now open! Students are eligible for kindergarten if they turn five years old before September 1st. Students must be five years old in order to begin Kindergarten. More information about Kindergarten can be found in this presentation. The link to register is https://www.watertown.k12.ma.us/about_our_district/registration_for_school. Please note that students at Early Steps also need to register; they are NOT automatically enrolled.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school!

Class Placement Input form for Caregivers
If you have information that the classroom teacher may not be aware of, you may share via this form, no later than Friday, April 12th. Please do not feel compelled to submit a form unless there is something beyond our knowledge you think will directly impact our work in creating a placement for your child. These forms will be shared with the teaching team as part of the placement determination process. Placement assignments do not go out until the summer due to potential shifts in staffing, etc., but it is important that we get your input in the earliest stages.
In order to support the needs of all children, requests for specific teachers will not be honored. Please do not request specific teachers by name. Additionally, please do not send requests to place your child with particular friends, as all students will be sent to their new class with “familiar faces.” However, if an older sibling has had a teacher and you would like to have your younger sibling have a different teacher, we will try our best to honor that request.
Whether you submit a form or not, you can be sure your child will be placed in a classroom in which he or she can grow academically, emotionally, and socially. We thank you for your understanding and your ongoing support.

Art Show Note from Mrs. Kim
The annual WPS Art Show includes artwork from Watertown students K-12. We are thrilled for the chance to bring our community together in support of our young artists. Students whose work will be on display will be notified through email (based on parent/caregiver emails in PowerSchool) by April 2.
Where and When:
The show is up Tuesday, April 9th - Wednesday, May 1st at the Watertown Mall. Because the Watertown Mall is a public place, you are welcome to see the artwork at any time during mall open hours while the show is up.
Opening Reception:
The Opening Reception is Tuesday, April 9th from 5pm-7pm at the Watertown Mall. There will be live music, and it's a chance for the community to gather and celebrate our students. Everyone, regardless of if your student's work is representing Hosmer in the art show, is invited to the reception.

Truffle Fundraiser to Support Gr. 5 Festivities
Order delicious Den's truffles by April 5th and support the end-of-year 5th-grade activities. Online orders can be completed on the PTO website or paper order forms, which were sent home previously. Truffles will be ready for pick up in April and make a great gift for Spring holidays, birthdays, or just because chocolate is yummy.
Fifth Grade Yearbook
Hello, fifth grade families! A few parent volunteers are going to create a short yearbook for students to remember their last year at the Hosmer.
You can submit candid photos for us to include! The yearbook will include every student’s school picture and space for notes/autographs. If you would like to submit up to 3 candid photos of your child, please visit https://plicbooks.com/go/KBN6VG to upload them by Friday, March 22. There is a field where you can type in a “tag” for the photo(s)—you can put the names of people in the photo there so we can be sure everyone is represented (note, there will not be captions in the yearbook). Feel free to send in baby photos, more recent ones, groups of 5th graders...whichever you prefer.
Yearbooks will be available at the end of the school year.
If you have any questions, please email Laura Daly at lauramaclaughlin@yahoo.com. Thank you!
