News for March 27, 2025
Hello Harambee Families,
I hope that you are all enjoying the sunny weather! It has been great fun to be outside at recess this week as students are once again able to play on the field (it is no longer wet and muddy!) and in the gaga pit (it is also no longer wet and muddy!).
I have two important reminders this week:
- Tomorrow we are celebrating Black Girl Magic Day across the district. Your student has been learning about Black Girl Magic Day this week in class. It is a day when we lift up and celebrate the magic inside all of us. All students are encouraged to wear black tomorrow.
- There is no school on Monday, March 31. Enjoy the long weekend!
Same team,
Principal Nathan
- Thursday, March 27 - Dental Sealant forms due for students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades
- Friday, March 28 - Black Girl Magic
- Monday, March 31 - No School
- Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17 - Spring conferences
- Friday, April 25 - Spring picture day
Harambee Annual Read-A-Thon
At Harambee Elementary, we value our learning as well as community. Our students are working towards both these noble pursuits with our annual Read-A-Thon! Money raised with this fundraiser will help support students and teachers in our school community to ensure everyone has equal opportunities, regardless of their background.
Children will be encouraged to develop their love of reading and stretch towards their personal reading development goals.
How it works:
An information packet is being sent home today, March 13th. Make a pledge to encourage your child to read – per book, per minute, or one flat rate – and raise money for Harambee Elementary at the same time.
Your donations will help pay for:
- Classroom and Teacher Needs
- School Events
- Swings for the school playground
You can find more information on the Harambee PTO website including copies of all documents being sent home. Harambee PTO - Read a Thon
You can also set up an online account at 99 pledges for our Read a Thon to collect donations online and to track reading minutes online as well. Harambee Read A Thon 99pledges
If you have any questions, please reach out to the PTO at HarambeePTO@gmail.com
Thank you for your support!

Sell Your Household Items, Clothing, or Crafts! ♻️ 🌎 Sustainability Sale
Are you decluttering or doing spring cleaning? Sell items that you no longer need to give them another life and earn some cash! We're hosting a Sustainability Sale for our community in the parking lot of Aŋpétu Téča Education Center.
Spots are open to individuals, families, crafters and local businesses. We especially encourage those selling secondhand items, products that reuse or recycle materials, or those who use sustainable packaging! This could be a great opportunity for families who live in apartments and are unable to host a garage sale, or those who don't have quite enough items to run their own sale this spring!
The sale is April 26, 2025 from 9am - 2pm. Sellers must reserve their spots by April 18. Only $25 per spot, and you keep your profits!
Nature Art Challenge 🍃 ✂️ 🌼 FREE Activity!
Students will explore their natural environment, collect materials, and create an art project using natural elements, fostering creativity, connection to nature, and teamwork.
