Morning Drop-Off & Afternoon Pick-Up Information
Scripps Families,
We have noticed a growing number of students being dropped off in the parking area near the marquee and handicapped parking spaces. This is obstructing access to the handicapped parking spots and creating an unsafe situation for students, who must cross in front of moving cars leaving the drop-off area. We kindly ask that all families use the designated drop-off loop shown on the map below.
Scripps Bus Loop - All Scripps AM and PM busses are using the south parking lot off of Scripps Road. Students will enter door 6.
Parent Drop-off & Pick-up Area:
Parents driving their child to school can use Stadium Drive or Scripps Road.
Stadium Drive:
Turn right across from the football stadium. Cars will travel south using the drive closer to Scripps Middle School.
Scripps Road:
Turn left using the entrance past the digital marquee. Travel north and use the "loop" near CERC to travel north and merge with traffic coming off of Stadium Drive.
Students will enter door 1.
The "loop" area by CERC is one-way! No traffic will be able to travel south using the loop. Southbound traffic will use the drive closer to Scripps Middle School.

Wand Protocol
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. To support this effort, we are implementing a new policy regarding the use of metal detecting wands at each of the Lake Orion middle schools.
These wands will only be used when there is reasonable suspicion that a student may be in possession of an item that could pose a risk to themselves or others, including vapes of any kind. Our goal is to foster a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your support and partnership in maintaining a school community where every student feels safe and respected. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. McKay or Mrs. Orlowski.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The state of Michigan’s 2024 budget included a return to free meals for all students.
The standards for students to receive the meals for free:
- Every student is entitled to one free breakfast, and one free lunch per school day.
- Students must take a fruit or juice with their breakfast entrée for the meal to qualify as a complete meal and be FREE.
- Students must take a fruit or vegetable (they may take both) with their lunch entrée for the meal to qualify as a complete meal and be FREE.
More information is available at LakeOrionSchools.org/FoodService.
Note: It is important that all families who qualify for free and reduced lunch complete the form within this registration process to receive additional services at reduced cost (pay to participate for athletics, holiday assistance, field trip assistance etc.) The forms are available at https://lakeorion.familyportal.cloud/.
Distinguished Dragon Staff Recognition
Lake Orion Community Schools is launching a program in 2023-24 to recognize LOCS staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at Distinguished Dragon Submission
We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
