Competition Teams
Target Challenge Weekend: Modified Trap Shotgun Competition
The Modified Trap Shotgun team competed at the State 4-H Shotgun match on May 11th at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The modified trap competition involves two rounds of shooting. During the first round participants are challenged to hit as many of the 25 individual clay targets as possible. If all 25 targets are hit, the shooters advance to the doubles round where they must hit 5 pairs of clays that are thrown out.

Awards Banquet
The 4-H Awards Banquet on May 13th brought widespread recognition to 4-H'ers for their hard work in shooting sports, shooting teams, technology, livestock, and public speaking. It was a fantastic night to celebrate our dedicated volunteer leaders and to recognize our graduating seniors.

State Council
8th-12th Graders!
State Council is the constitutional meeting of the Georgia 4-H Council. It is open to students who have completed the 8th grade through recently graduated seniors. The highlight of the weekend is the Iron Clover Event, which is a competition between the four districts. Other activities include State Officer elections, fun workshops, a community service fair, and annual Citizenship Ceremony.
Cost: Free for the first four students to register, $100 for each student after

Cost for camp is $425 per person.

Summer Programs
Pumpkin Growing Contest
In partnership with Jefferson Public Library we are participating in the Great Pumpkin Contest this year! Any youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade (as of August 1st, 2024) can participate.
The best time to be planting your pumpkin will be after May 15th so grab your seeds and get ready! All pumpkins will need to be verified by the 4-H office between October 10th-20th to be eligible for the Georgia 4-H competition.

**FULL** May 29th $10 Geocaching Day at Fort Yargo State Park and Little Mulberry Park. **FULL**
Participants will learn about GPS systems and how to participate in the world's largest scavenger hunt. Participants will need to bring a packed lunch, water bottle, and be dressed for a day outdoors. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the 4-H Office.

Join us for an overnight adventure at Wahsega 4-H Center. Participants will take have the opportunity to go tubing, fly down a zip line, go up the climbing wall, and explore the reptile lab.

Who doesn't love cookies? Join us for a day of baking fun as we explore different cookie recipes and decorating skills.

June 6th $20 Grillin' Day
Want to learn the basics of how to grill out? Here's your chance to learn grill safety, set-up, skills, and of course...food! Participants will get a chance to grill at least two different dishes during this activity.

Art Day is back! Come out and join us as Mrs. Hillary leads us through a day of colorful fun! Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to a community art piece displayed in the 4-H Office and complete their own artworks to take home.

June 13th $10 Field trip to the Museum of Aviation
Have an interest in aircraft or history? We're taking a field trip to the Museum of Aviation located at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins. This museum is a window into the history and development of the U.S. Air Force and a look of aviation history at the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame.
9:00 AM Departure, Return no later than 6:00 PM.

June 27th $10 UNG Planetarium
Ever look at the stars and want to know more about what lies beyond Earth's atmosphere? Here's a chance for your students to learn more about the universe and what lies out there in the unknown.

July 11th $10 Explore Ecology
Environmental Education is the theme of the day as we visit the Georgia State Botanical Gardens, Bear Hollow Zoo, and Sandy Creek Nature Center. Participants will be able to explore a variety of natural scenes while also participating in fun activities to understand the world around us. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle. Be prepared to be outside for most of the day.

**FULL** July 24th-25th $30 Farm & Fishing Tour **FULL**
Join us for a field trip to a variety of farms and centers as we explore Georgia agriculture and its many different forms. Locations include 7G's Christmas Tree Farm, Shields-Etheridge Heritage Farm, and Potts Farm. We end the program with an afternoon of fishing. Participants will need to bring a water bottle and sack lunch. Be prepared to be outside for most of the time.
