The Weekly

Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are beginning the course selection process for next school year’s courses. Registration information is being provided to students starting Wednesday, January 17th.

Each grade level is assigned a registration week. A full calendar of details is below.

Here is what parents/guardians must know:

• Every student is assigned a mandatory appointment time (with their school counselor) during their registration week. These appointments cannot be rescheduled. This is the student’s opportunity to receive valuable information in addition to individualized help with their course selection.

• Registration is due on the Friday of the students’ registration week. Students should come to their appointment prepared with questions.

Additional details, along with a reminder of appointment times, will be sent via email to families the Sunday prior to their child’s registration week. If you have any immediate questions, please contact the Guidance Office at (319)688-1053.

HOSA is a national organization that empowers future health professionals through education, collaboration, and experience. Members spend the fall and winter preparing for health science events to compete in the state leadership competition. The top three winners in each event will advance to the 6 day national leadership competition in Dallas.

The West High chapter is currently in its second year. Last year's members were unable to attend the state competition due to cost issues, however, this year's members are determined to achieve their goal. The state competition will be at Drake University on March 3rd & 4th. We would appreciate your help to allow this year's 20 members to compete!

Athlete Registration for 2023-2024 Year:

All athletes must register at the beginning of every new school year and have a current physical on file to participate. The ONLY way to complete the required permission to practice form is by registering first.
