Principal Message

Dear Henry Families,

Please remember this week students will participate in the “Parkway Votes” mock election. You received an email with more information from the district on Oct. 15.

Parkway Votes is an opportunity for students to learn about the democratic process, understand the importance of lifelong voting habits, and increase communication with their families about the value of civic engagement. Families are encouraged to talk with their children about their values around voting.

At our school, students will have the opportunity to practice voting.

Kindergarten - Grade 2: Which of these is your favorite national monument? Students will vote for the Statue of Liberty, Gateway Arch, Washington Monument, or the Grand Canyon.
Grade 3 - Grade 5 will vote for the President of the United States.

Schoolwide election results will be made public in a summary format. School-specific results will only be shared within classrooms under teacher direction to ensure an educational focus. Individual votes will remain anonymous. We look forward to this being a positive experience for our students so they can participate in a mock election.

Picture Retake Day Tuesday

Parent/Teacher Conferences are Coming Soon!

We are looking forward to our upcoming fall conferences on November 4th and November 7th. The teachers will share strategies, updates from formal and informal assessments, and other observations about your child and his/her progress. Parents are encouraged to bring their child to the conference. Student-involved conferences (or participation) is preferred, but we understand if you are not able to bring your child to the conference. We do have a system in place for student involvement so there is no pressure for parents to bring anything.

In order to make signing up for a conference more convenient, we are combining all of the conference sign-up links into this form for easy access and planning. Please sign up by Friday, November 1.

Would you like to give a book to your child’s teacher? Click here! You may use one of the links to contribute to a teacher’s eWallet so they can purchase needed books, or you can purchase books selected by the teachers at the fair.

Dental Safari Company, a mobile dental corporation, that travels to schools to provide dental wellness checkups, and urgent care treatment, for children is coming to Henry this Wednesday, October 30th. To take part in this service, a dental consent needs to be completed and signed. Please visit www.dentalsafariforms.com to complete the online consent form.

WE NEED YOU Campaign Update

Henry Families, as we move into the last week of our WE NEED YOU campaign, we have only raised $3,055 of our $10,000 goal. We have a limited number of fundraisers throughout the year and the WE NEED YOU campaign was intended to be an easy and hassle free fundraiser for families to donate and support.

At this time, we have had slightly less than 50 families participate and we are only at $3,000. The funds raised support all students in the school and allow us to provide activities for families, class parties and celebrations, staff and teacher appreciation, school assemblies and programs, equipment/rugs/tools/resources requested by teachers and Henry staff.

The amount spent averages $45-$60 per student. In order to continue to provide this support, we need to meet these fundraising goals. We will be looking into other fundraising opportunities (selling items) if we cannot meet the $10,000 goal. PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TODAY. Please also be on the lookout for more information for other fundraising programs we will initiate in order to meet our goals.
