Objectives of the Meet

* To develop an appreciation for the place of Track and Field in the world

of sports

* To develop goodwill among the many different schools competing

to experience sports competition and fellowship

to practice good sportsmanship

to generate school spirit / to lend moral support to others

to learn to be a disciplined and orderly participant and/or spectator

* To develop skills in the various events that may lead to successful

participation in class, intramural and varsity level sports

* To develop speed, endurance and agility in running

Congratulations Carly Kawamura, Milena Peroff, and Lily Yasuda! Their STEM Project represented Waikīkī School at the Hawaii Elementary STEM Expo last week at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Thank you for your hard work and special thanks, Mr. Lawrence for this opportunity and guidance. A video clip of their project, entitled "Ritz Cracker Drop" is located below. A special mahalo also goes out to Mrs. Kunihiro for coordinating the logistics of our fantastic team representing Waikiki School at the Expo.

This past Sunday, students from Waikiki represented their school with pride at the 2nd Annual Kalani Complex Elementary Basketball Invitational. Our school fielded both a girls and boys squad and played four games each against Liholiho, Wilson, and Kalaha. Thank you Coach Holaday for organizing the practices and getting our students to compete and have fun!

This summer, during the month of July, I will be offering a Summer Farm Club for all ages (excluding incoming Kindergarten) starting Monday, July 8th, 9am-2pm. Summer Farm Club will be at our school’s farm, across from the C Bldg and the basketball courts.

Daily Schedule:

Drop off, morning snack time (home snack) and explore the garden - 9am-9:30am

Circle Time and garden yoga @ The Peace Circle - 9:30-10:00

Morning Farm Stations: planting, watering and harvesting; seed collection; animal

care (fish, worms, bugs) - 10:00-11:00

Lunch time & recess - 11:00-11:45 (home lunch and water bottles please)

Nature Arts & Crafts - Papermaking, nature print making, solar crayons, t-shirt aprons,

nature binoculars, stick art, nature crowns, and more 11:45-12:30

Garden Snack making - smoothies, garden salads, garden salsa and solar nachos, stir

fry veggies and other yummy garden snacks that are growing and harvest ready -

12:30-1:30

Clean up, ending circle and Pau - 1:30-2pm

Congratulations to Waikiki School students Myli Blum, Liam Curtis, and Jor-El Young who travled to Spain over the Spring Break to participate in the Mundialito Soccer Tournament. Their club, Hawaii United, placed 1st in the Bronze Division. Congratulations also goes out to Kai Blum who also played at the Mundialito Tournament for his club, Sports Education from Brazil. Great job!
