February 2025 Newsletter
Feb 5 - March 4, 2024
From Principal Larama
Dear Jackson Elementary Families,
I want to start by giving a huge thank you to our amazing Jackson PTA for hosting another fun-filled Movie Night! Itβs always wonderful to see our families come together and enjoy time as a school community. Your continued supportβboth at events like this and in your childβs learningβmakes such a difference, and we appreciate you!
As we move into the second half of the year, mid-year progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday, February 19. This is an important time to reflect on your childβs progress, celebrate their strengths, and identify areas to focus on moving forward. I encourage you to take time to review the report with your child, set goals, and reach out to teachers if you have any questions. Weβre excited to continue growing toward proficiency in all subject areas as we finish out the year strong!
Weβre also excited to invite you to our Student Learning Showcase on Wednesday, February 26, at 5:30 p.m. This special evening will give families a chance to visit classrooms, see student learning on display, and participate in fun, hands-on learning activities with your children. Plus, dinner will be provided! We hope to see you there for this wonderful opportunity to celebrate our studentsβ hard work and progress together.
We just wrapped up a very cold and snowy week, and I appreciate your flexibility with late starts and school cancellations. As we continue through winter, please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather with warm coats, hats, and gloves. If you need assistance with those items please reach out to one of our counselors, your child's teacher, or the office.
Lastly, consistent attendance remains key to student success. Each day in the classroom builds on the last, and being present helps students stay engaged and confident in their learning. Letβs continue to work together to build strong habits that will support them for years to come!
Thank you for all you do to support your childβs learning and the Jackson Elementary community.
Hereβs to a great second semester!
With gratitude,
Mr. Larama
Principal, Jackson Elementary
π’ From the Office π’
Jackson Elementary Families,
Each time you come in to pick up your student early - remember to bring in your ID. It's important all the time, but more so as our new secratary, Mr. Pat Carroll, gets to know our students and families.
Late Students
If your student arrives late to school or goes to class from breakfast (after 9:15 am) they must come to the office to check in.
Scenarios where students do not check in at the office often results in and attendance call going home because the teacher marked the student absent before they arrived to the classroom. If the office is aware of the student's late arrival by checking into the office, we can adjust their absence to a tardy.

Natural Leaders
Join the Natural Leaders Program!
Natural Leaders is a parent engagement program in which our multicultural families serve as a bridge between families, community, and schools. Natural Leaders assist and provide outreach to families where English is a second language and or cultural differences may inhibit family communication and participation at school.
Who are Natural Leaders?
Natural Leaders are multicultural parents, guardians, and family members that serve as a bridge between students, families, community, and school.
Why are Natural Leaders needed?
The Natural Leaders program provides families facing language and cultural barriers with the tools and support needed to navigate the school system effectively. By fostering a sense of belonging, the program empowers these families to overcome challenges and become active participants in their children's education, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to engage within their school communities.
π Upcoming Events:
β Thursday, February 6, 2025: Natural Leaders Parent Series in Partnership with Assessments and Research
β Thursday, February 11, 2025: Washington Alliance for Better Schools Financial Literacy Workshop

Up-Coming Challenge
I am excited to introduce our upcoming Jump Rope Ninjas challenge! This fun initiative encourages students to earn "ninja belts" as they progress through 9 levels by jumping for designated amounts without stopping or making a mistake. Here are some key details:
Challenge Overview: Each grade level has different jump rope goals. Students will take turns counting for each other and cheering on their classmates as they attempt to advance through the levels.
Dates: Introduction to the Challenge Feb. 3-7, Challenge begins Feb. 10
Social Emotional Learning Words:
Resilience: working hard even when itβs hard work; recovering quickly from difficulties
THINK (Before You Speak): T= Is it True? H= Is it Helpful? I= Is it Inspiring? N= Is it Necessary? K= Is it Kind?
Additional Information: Proper Jump Rope Size
As our students embark on new challenges and continue their learning journey, I want to thank families for encouraging physical activity at home. Jumping rope is not only a fun way to stay active, but it also helps develop coordination and endurance.
Be safe, have fun and stay active!
