Message from the Principal

We are ready to begin the 2024-25 school year! This will be my fourth year as principal and my 23rd year at White Oak. I am excited and honored to lead an awesome team at this great school! We look forward to a productive and cohesive partnership with you as we ensure our students reach their highest potential. In fact, our focus this year is "Every Student, Every Day." This means that our teachers, support staff, custodians, front office staff, cafeteria ladies, and our entire team will work every day to make sure we are giving the best we can to every student. This means that we want our students to work every day to also be the best they can be, not only for themselves, but for their classmates, teachers, and families.

During this school year, we will work to provide the highest quality of teaching and learning. Our work will always align with our vision and mission to empower students and help them be successful in their path through life. We work on many areas during the school day. In addition to academics, we work on social skills, fine arts, community service, extracurricular activities, being part of a team, helping each other, expanding our knowledge of this world and more.

Success for our students is achieved when they receive support from both school and home. Our partnership with you and your family will make a huge difference in your child's education. As partners, we have many responsibilities in our students' success. You can guide and support your child's education in the following ways:

1. Ensure your child attends school daily and arrives on time, ready to learn.

2. Ensure your child completes all assignments whether they are at school or at home.

3. Encourage your child to read daily to develop a love for reading and improve literacy skills.

4. Have your child share his/her daily school experiences with you.

5. Communicate well with your child's teacher(s) so that additional support can be provided, when needed.

Many aspects of our school will continue this year: our wonderful PTO will continue their efforts to raise money to support our students and staff; our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) will continue with our Hive System (like a House System) to provide advocates for our students and to promote positive cohesiveness throughout the school; our afterschool clubs/activities (Beta Club, Chorus, K-Kids, Academic Bowl) will continue to provide additional growth for our students; our Accelerated Reader Program will continue to help motivate and encourage students to read; and our MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) will continue to help students through interventions that meet specific needs throughout the year. Those are just a few of the many areas of our school that will continue to help our students thrive this year.

We welcome and encourage you to be an active part of our school by staying connected. Communication will come home weekly either by my newsletter, teachers' newsletters, yellow WOW folders, or a combination of our efforts to keep you informed. Our White Oak staff is always here to assist you through professional teamwork and expertise. Please reach out to us any time you have questions to reassure that you are part of a wonderful team.

Another year of learning, growing, and fun awaits! We are excited for our students to return to campus and look forward to all the goals that we will set and achieve this year with each and every student.
