Brrrr! Happy New Year!
Greetings Webber Elementary Parents and Students,
Happy New Year to you and your family. Fittingly, this week's Positivity Project character trait is "optimism". Channeling a positive and optimistic mindset, I'm confident that 2025 will be the most amazing year yet!
Certainly, the days following a prolonged Holiday Break can be challenging. All of the anticipation and excitement that accompanies it is often followed by hints of disappointment and despair once vacation has come and gone. I know that the business of getting up early, preparing things, and retuning to the routine of school has been difficult for some of our students. I've seen it firsthand. So, I commend our students and parents for understanding and accepting the challenge. We're successfully getting back into the groove! Old Man Winter has certainly made his presence felt this week. Thank you for sending you children equipped with the proper outerwear to deal with the windy, cold conditions. Our threshold for outdoor activities is a wind chill of zero degrees. In general, if temperature are greater than that, we will do outdoor recess.
A few important reminders: Next week, January 13 - 17, vision screening will be conducted. Also, we are going through a large number of snacks. Although we keep some stock on hand in the office, that supply can be quickly diminished. Please be sure to pack a healthy snack for school. Finally, a reminder that LOCS District policy states that elementary aged students are not allowed to have cell phones or smart watches on during the school day. If they have them in school, they need to be turned off and in their lockers.
Forward down the field! We're all on a winning streak. Have a wonderful weekend.

Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
