KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
It was a wonderful week of learning at Northwood! We have also been lucky with the fall weather; I hope that continues into next week as we look ahead to Booster Week with the Fun Run on Friday the 1st. Below you will find more specific information about the Fun Run day, but first I want to share a few important notes:
Parents are able to come watch the run during your child’s run time. The run will take place on the large field toward the back of campus. There will be Foundation members and school staff near the entrance to answer any questions. Once the run is complete, all students will return to their classrooms with their teachers. While it is not encouraged, if you choose to check out your child after the run, that must be done via the front office. No students will be allowed to leave the field area, they will return to their class and then the front office will call into their classroom for checkout. Siblings will not watch other siblings run. T-shirts, provided by Foundation, will be given to all students the day of the run. Make sure water bottles are clearly labeled. Teachers will make sure they are filled before their run. Another change that is important to note is that daily trinket prizes will not be distributed this year. Instead, individual class, grade level, and school-wide goals will be set and rewarded. You’ll receive detailed information daily from your homeroom teacher.
Our school survey window remains open. To date, we’ve had only 4% of families participate. The survey does ask specific questions about Northwood but also about the overall district. If you have any questions about the survey, please do not hesitate to contact me. The link is here Annual Parent Perception Survey.
With gratitude,
Heather Rucker, principal

MUSIC NOTES WITH MS. DAHL
This year the 3rd grade class will be performing in a Veterans Day program. We are very excited to honor our Veteran’s with this patriotic show. We will perform for parents on November 11th and for students on November 12th at 8:00 am.
The Northwood chorus has been practicing for our winter concert on December 10th. This sweet group of singers are working hard to learn and memorize a lot of songs. We will perform winter songs, Hanukkah songs, and other holiday favorites.
In music class this quarter we have been reviewing and learning about rhythm symbols and patterns. We have had so much fun practicing fun rhythm patterns with various instruments. Our next unit is all about pitches and melody. We will be learning how to identify pitches and read music.
VETERANS DAY PHOTO REQUEST
November 11th is Veterans Day, and we are having a performance to celebrate. We would like to invite you to post photos of your loved ones who served in the armed forces. Whether they are currently serving or have passed on, we want to see and celebrate their bravery, sacrifice, and commitment to our country. These photos will be presented in a slideshow during the 3rd grade Veterans Day performance on November 11th and 12th. Please follow the link to share your photos with us.

ALL PRO DAD - OCTOBER
It was another great turnout for our monthly APD breakfast. We discussed our theme of 'purpose' and how it helps with student's learning at school and home. Many thanks to Willow River Church for providing the coffee. Next month we will be collecting items for North Fulton Charities as we try and beat our Food Drive total of eight boxes last year.

These make great gifts, and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school.
