What a wonderful week it has been at South Lakewood! Our students have been breaking a cognitive sweat, diving into their studies with enthusiasm and curiosity. It's truly inspiring to see their dedication and hard work.

A big shoutout to our PTA for organizing a fantastic Fun Run Assembly! Your efforts are greatly appreciated and truly make a difference in our school community.

Just a reminder to keep the momentum going: please continue to read every night for at least 20 minutes. This practice not only supports academic growth but also fosters a lifelong love of reading.

Lastly, mark your calendars! Fun Run registration begins on Monday, September 9th. We’re excited for another great event and look forward to everyone’s participation.

While all students at our school may now get no-cost school meals, it is still important to fill out the Student Benefits Application each year on School Café. It can help qualify our school for funding to support students. It also can help qualify some students for other benefits, such as not having to pay certain school fees.

Although all students will receive meals at no cost, it’s still helpful for households to provide income information. Gathering this information allows South Lakewood to receive state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible to receive Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more. Come early to see our choir sing and stay cheer on the Rockies as they take on the LA Dodgers (a 6:10pm game -- our choir will sing between 5:45-6pm-ish)

Calling all 3rd – 5th grade girls – Girls on the Run is starting NEXT WEEK! Girls on the Run is ready to help girls thrive and shine. Girls on the Run will start the week of September 11th. We will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:45-4:00. Open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls. Registration is now open- only 6 spots left! Scholarships are available! A reminder that our “Hug and Go” lane is for families to use to drop off their students, not to park and walk their child to the front doors. If you’d like to walk your child to the front door, please park on the street before or after the “Hug and Go” section.
