Meet a few of our SPEDtacular teachers and paraprofessionals.
Mrs. Staci Rachui
Role: Adaptive Ed Teacher (2 years)
Q: Where did you go to college, and what attracted you to the educational field?
A: Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. I was born with a disability and want to make a positive impact in student's lives who also have disabilities.
Q: What would the students be surprised to find out about you?
A: I love roller coasters!
Q: What accomplishment fills you with pride so far this year?
A: My nonverbal students saying their first words.
Ms. Briana Garcia
Role: Special Education Teacher (5 years)
Q: Where did you go to college, and what attracted you to the education field?
A: I attended college at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. I have always wanted to work with students and know that the education field was where I wanted to be. After receiving my bachelors degree, I wanted to continue learning and decided to get my masters in Special Education.
Q: What is one of your favorite memories as a teacher at Banquete ISD?
A: All of my favorite memories are when students have that "ah-ha" moment and it all comes full circle for them in the classroom.
Q: How do you think students will remember you and your class?
A: I hope that students will remember me for my energy and positive outlook on education.
Coach Enrique Gonzalez
Role: Inclusion Teacher/Coach
Q: Where did you go to college, and what attracted you to the education field?
A: Texas A&M University-Kingsville; I have always aspired to be a Teacher/Coach.
Q: If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
A: Do not be afraid to fail.
Q: What makes a "good day" at school?
A: Smooth sailing, no surprises

A: Great coworkers and enviroment
Q: What are your hobbies/interests (other than making Banquete ISD great)?
A: Love to watch football (Dallas Cowboys)

A: Dependable, always on time and communication

A: With God, all things are possible.
Mrs. Neva Baltierra
Campus: Jr. High
Role: Paraprofessional (17 years)
Q: What is your favorite thing about Banquete ISD?
A: I enjoy working with students.
Q: What are your hobbies/interests (other than making Banquete ISD great)?
A: I spin on my spin bike and enjoy reading with my toddler.
Q: What are three traits that best describe you?
A: I am reliable, broad-minded and listening/communication skills.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: "Don't worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try."-Jack Canfield
Mrs. Thelma Trevino
Role: Paraprofessional (37 years)
Q: What is your favorite thing about Banquete ISD?
A: My favorite thing is how some teachers go above and beyond in helping the students succeed with their work.
Q: What are your hobbies/interests (other than making Banquete ISD great)?
A: My hobbies and interests are shopping and baking.
Q: What are three traits that best describe you?
A: I am very caring and friendly person. I love children. I enjoy going to sporting events.

A: Live today like there is no tomorrow.
Mrs. Bertie Rivera
Role: Paraprofessional (14 years)
Q: What is your favorite thing about Banquete ISD?
A: My passion is working with special needs students. I can honestly say I love my job.
Q: What are your hobbies/interests (other than making Banquete ISD great)?
A: I love spending time with my kids and granddaughter. I love church, making bows and jewelry for my granddaughter. I enjoy plants and gardening.

A: Humble, caring and compassionate

A: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Services for Adults, Youth and Students
Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services supports people with disabilities to prepare for, obtain, maintain and advance in meaningful employment by providing a range of services based on an individual’s employment goals. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) counselors work closely with job seekers to determine an employment goal, and then identify and arrange for the high-quality services that lead to successful employment.

Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID)

Services available:
Crisis Intervention - MHID offers an expansive array of psychiatric crisis services to residents of Nueces County.
Adult Mental Health - The Adult Mental Health Services Division assists adults 18 years of age and older who are living with mental illnesses including Major Depression, Schizophrenia and related disorders, bipolar disorders and other diagnosis that interfere with daily activities. Treatment is individually designed to meet the specific needs of each client while promoting independence and choice.
Youth Mental Health - Youth Mental Health Services provides traditional outpatient services to children ages 3-17 who are experiencing symptoms of emotional disturbance.
Intellectual & Developmental Disability - Programs, services, and supports are available to eligible individuals over 3 years of age who are diagnosed with an intellectual disability (IQ below 70), have a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum, or who have other related conditions. These services are intended to provide the skills and supports needed to continue to live meaningful and productive lives in the community.
