Message From the Leadership Team
Dear AMS Families,
I am excited to share that on September 30th, we will kick off our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need your support to make it a huge success! This fundraiser is a wonderful opportunity to help our students gain access to enriching experiences and resources that go beyond what our school budget can provide.
Here’s how you can contribute: We are asking all families to consider making a donation and spreading the word by reaching out to friends, family, and anyone else who would love to invest in the future of our students. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference! Register here on MyBooster.com !
In previous years, your generosity has enabled us to achieve remarkable things like:
- Inspiring author visits and expert presentations
- Artist-in-residence programs and creative projects
- Playground improvements and infrastructure updates
- Teacher grants for special classroom resources and initiatives
- New extracurricular programs and events
- Supporting and celebrating our hardworking staff
This year, we’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $20,000! If we exceed this goal, we’ll be able to address some important needs, such as replacing our outdated front sign and upgrading our playground for even more student fun.
Exciting News for Students! As a special bonus, students who participate in the fundraiser will have the chance to win some fantastic prizes! These include gift certificates to local businesses, a pizza party from Oak Craft Pizza, treats from Clean Juice, custom Nikes, and much more! Not only will your support enhance your child’s school experience, but there are also exciting rewards for them to enjoy.
Local Business Support: If you own or work with a local business, we encourage you to consider a tax-deductible sponsorship. This is a great way to support our students while being recognized by our community!
For any questions, please feel free to contact amherstnhpta@gmail.com.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and staff. Together, we can make this the most successful year yet!

Student Technology Use Agreement - PLEASE READ
You may have noticed your student has recently been issued a device (either to use at school, bring home, or both -- depending on grade level). As part of our efforts to ensure that students understand what productive and safe use of technology looks like, and to protect the investment in our devices, we are asking students to commit to a Student Technology Agreement. You will notice that this document is in student-friendly language and aligns with the district policies and procedures that were agreed to during the annual student registration process. We met with students this week to go over these expectations and the consequences that result from misuse.
To see a copy of the agreement, please click HERE. You can help us at home by going over this document with your student, monitoring technology use, and giving reminders as needed about expectations outlined in this document.
Thank you in advance for your support in helping us to protect students and devices at Amherst Middle School.
Parent Partnership
September is Suicide Prevention Month - a time to raise awareness, education, and provide resources to discuss prevention and to seek help. According to the CDC, in 2021, more than 1 in 5 (22%) students seriously considered attempting suicide and 1 in 10 (10%) attempted suicide. Here are some suicide prevention links, including risk factors and protective factors, warning signs, and crisis lines. We want you to know it’s okay to talk openly about mental health and suicide with your student. It’s ok to check in with them about their mood, or changes in behavior. It’s ok to let them know you notice something - it helps reduce the stigma and opens up the conversation that could be life saving.
PTA Corner
Becoming a member of the PTA doesn't mean signing your life away volunteering, although we can always use more volunteers. If you are interested in chairing an event/committee, are looking to get more involved or you want to meet some new people, log on to https://amherstnhpta.membershiptoolkit.com/ to complete your registration today!
You can also reach out to the PTA via email if you have any questions or concerns that need to be addressed before our first meeting, amherstptanh@gmail.com.
As you complete the PowerSchool Registration forms for school this year, please make sure to opt into the PTA Directory (it is the last form)! This will allow Clark Wilkins and AMS to share contact info directly with the PTA, making it easier for you to stay up-to-date with all PTA communications, including room parent emails.
