Today, students brought home a nomination form that contains the below information. If you are not interested in serving in one of these positions, please consider attending our meetings. Our next meeting date will be Tuesday, October 8 at 4:30 p.m. Once the full committee is elected on this date, subsequent dates will be scheduled.

Nominations for Parent Representatives
2024-2025
The Coosa Elementary School Improvement Council (SIC) is an advisory council to the principal that is focused on school improvement issues. In previous years, the SIC has put systems in place to increase security, built connections with cluster schools, made educational connections with business partners, and developed opportunities for students to learn about other cultures. It is made up of representatives of parents, teachers, and community members. The principal serves as an ex-officio member. The SIC meets on a monthly basis during the school year. CES parent representatives are nominated and elected by their fellow CES parents. Any parent/guardian of at least one child enrolled in CES is eligible to place his/her own name or the name of another parent in nomination. Parent representatives are elected to a one- or two-year term. If a parent has a child enrolled in the 5th grade at CES for the current school year and will not have any child enrolled the following year, that parent is elected to a term of one year only. This year, the office of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary are open. A representative of the SIC will contact all individuals whose names are submitted into nomination prior to the election to confirm acceptance of the nomination. Nominees will be invited to submit a brief statement about themselves and why they want to serve on the SIC. All statements received will be printed on the opposite side of the ballot so that voters will have a chance to get to know each of the candidates. You can submit your nomination to the SIC by returning the attached form to the office of Coosa Elementary School in person, email or by mail. If sending by email, please email Melissa Pender, at Melissa.Pender@beaufort.k12.sc.us. Forms must be received no later than September 27, 2024.
Commitment: The SIC meets monthly for one hour for a minimum of 8 meetings. Additional subcommittee time commitments may be necessary based on the goals set by the SIC.
