Ms. Porter's Monthly Message
Dear Nob Hill Families,
Welcome back to an "Out of This World" second half of our school year! I hope your Winter Break was filled with joy, rest, and special moments shared with loved ones. Now, we’re ready to launch back into stellar learning and continue reaching for the stars together.
As we return, we will be administering the FAST PM2 assessments. These assessments are crucial for providing our teachers with accurate data to guide their instructional decisions and support your child’s learning. Please encourage your children to take these assessments seriously by trying their best, arriving on time, and being ready to shine. Teachers will be sharing these results with parents, helping us work as a team to ensure student success.
We are excited to announce a special incentive for students who show growth in reading and math: they will be invited to enjoy time on the game bus! Let’s work together to motivate and support our students in reaching this goal.
Mark your calendars for some exciting upcoming events! Our next PTA meeting will be held in January, and we hope to see you there. Additionally, the district showcase will take place at Amerant Arena on January 14th from 5:00-8:00 PM. Each school in the district will be represented, so you can visit and see the wonderful opportunities being offered. This is a fantastic event for 5th and 8th-grade parents to explore different middle and high schools.
Enrollment for VPK programs is now open! If you have a three or four-year-old as of September 1, 2025, your child is eligible to attend here at Nob Hill Elementary. Our program does have a monthly cost, but four-year-olds can apply the state VPK voucher to help lower the expense. This is an excellent program to prepare your child for Kindergarten and help them become accustomed to the school environment.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and dedication to making Nob Hill Elementary a place where our students soar. Here’s to a fantastic start to 2024 filled with learning, growth, and achievement.
Warm regards,
Ms. Porter

Happy New Year and welcome to 2025! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, relaxation, and family time. As we start the second half of the school year, we’re excited to see our students back and ready to learn.
We’re kicking off January with the FAST Progress Monitoring 2 (PM2) assessments for reading and math. These midyear checkpoints help teachers understand how students are progressing and guide our instruction for the rest of the school year. Please ensure your child is well-rested and arrives on time to give their best effort during testing.
Daily attendance and being on time are essential for student success. School starts promptly at 8:00 AM, and breakfast is available beginning at 7:30 AM. We encourage families to arrive early to ensure students are ready to start their day on time. Let’s work together to make every school day count!
Parents, your involvement is crucial to your child’s education. Stay informed by reading my weekly email updates, which include important announcements, upcoming events, and helpful resources. Remember, we are partners in your child’s success. Communication and collaboration between home and school are key!
Students, as we return to school, let’s remember to: follow school rules and classroom expectations, treat classmates, teachers, and staff with kindness and respect, and give our best effort in learning each day.
We are proud of the positive and supportive culture at Nob Hill Elementary, and we know our students will continue to shine in the new year.
Thank you for your continued support, and let’s make 2025 an amazing year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Cruz
