ROCK'in Weekly Update
Message from Split Rock Elementary School Principal
This past week was jam-packed with exciting learning experiences and opportunities for our Wildcats!
Our Grade 3 Wildcats had a special visit from The Rev Theatre Co. as they brought Alice in Wonderland to life. Through this engaging adaptation, students explored themes of curiosity and identity in a way that sparked imagination and deeper understanding.
Grade 2 Wildcats visited Hospital-Land, an incredible opportunity where they learned about health, safety, and the roles of healthcare professionals. Check out the detailed write-up below to see more about their experience!
Congratulations to our “Pack Award” winners for the month of November! These classrooms earned either the Golden Broom, Whistle, or Tray awards for exemplifying our core building expectations: Being Present, Responsible, Respectful, and Safe. Additionally, a big shout out to our Wildcats of the Month for their hard work and dedication in the classroom. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Great job, Wildcats!
Next week, we will wrap up our emergency drills, ensuring all students and staff are confident in our safety procedures. This includes a bus safety drill conducted by our transportation department to reinforce essential safety practices.
As the weather continues to cool, please help us ensure that our Wildcats are dressed appropriately for outdoor activities. Recess and some Physical Education classes with Mr. Gangemi will take place outside whenever possible, so having the right attire is key to staying comfortable and ready to learn.
** In the case of a 2 hour delay, our school day begins at 11am. Breakfast is not served, as lunch begins to be served shortly after arrival. Car drop offs also begin at 11 am in the back parking lot.**
One last reminder that Split Rock’s Grade 3 and 4 Chorus Concert has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 17 at WGHS at 7:00pm!
Thank you for your continued support in helping our Wildcats shine!
BE AWESOME!
Mr. Kimpland
Climate Survey
Our District values your feedback! We are asking you to take a brief survey to tell us about your experience with the West Genesee Central School District. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses as they inform our Strategic Planning decision-making processes. The survey window will be open now through December 16, 2024.
"ROCK'in" Around School
The Rev Theater Tour Presents: Alice in Wonderland
Our Grade 3 students were treated to a wonderful performance this week from Rev Theater!
Grade 2 Visits Hospitaland
Our Grade 2 students visited Hospitaland this week. Sponsored by Crouse Health, a Visit to Hospital-Land was established in 1976 and provides an educational opportunity for first and second-grade students to learn what a stay at Crouse Hospital, or any hospital, would be like.
The 90-minute course is designed to help educate children and decrease fears about hospitalization.
Classes are taught by an RN who will lead the children through a pretend tonsillectomy. The children are able to express their feelings around hospitalization while learning about the healthcare professionals they may encounter.
Students will role play a patient, parent, doctor or nurse to experience handling various equipment, including a hospital bed, wheelchair and stretcher.
Upon completion of the course, students receive a goodie bag and certificate, along with a patient I.D. bracelet with their name on it.
