Harvesting Success: October News for Our Families!
As we move into the beautiful fall season, it's time to reflect on the growth and success our students have achieved so far this year. Just like the harvest, the hard work done throughout the year is now beginning to show its fruits, and we want to celebrate and support your child's achievements alongside you.
Mark Your Calendars: Parent-Teacher Conferences are Coming!
Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) are just around the corner, and we are excited to partner with you in nurturing your child's growth and success.
Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) Details:
Dates: Tuesday, October 15 & Wednesday, 16, 2024
Time: 1 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.
These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to connect and discuss your child's progress, strengths, and areas for growth. During the meeting, we will cover key aspects of your child's development, including:
- Attendance: We'll review your child's attendance patterns and discuss how consistent attendance supports their academic success. Just like nurturing a crop, consistent care and presence play a crucial role in your child's growth.
- Academic Performance: We will discuss your child's achievements, highlight their progress in various subjects, and identify any areas that may need additional support to ensure they continue to thrive. Every seed needs time and attention to flourish, and together, we can provide the support your child needs.
We believe that strong communication between home and school is essential to your child's success, and these conferences are a vital part of that relationship. By working together, we can help your child continue to blossom and succeed in their educational journey.
Please be sure to sign up for a conference time that works for you. Your involvement makes a big difference, and we appreciate your partnership in helping us harvest a season of success for all our students.
Thank you for being an active participant in your child's growth. Let’s make this harvest season a celebration of their accomplishments!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Janice Julal

ATTENDANCE MATTERS! TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL START TO THE SCHOOL YEAR
7 Positive Attendance Tips
Feeling connected at school depends on being there. Every day is an opportunity for your student to get to know their peers, as well as to receive support from their teachers and other caring adults.
Here’s what you can do to help your student build good attendance habits:
- Stay informed. Understand your student’s attendance to be sure absences aren’t adding up.
- Talk about it. Start a conversation about the importance of showing up for success in school and life, and for building relationships with teachers and friends.
- Set expectations. Unless your child is sick, they should be in school every day.
- Sleep matters. Set a regular bedtime and morning routine to help your student be rested and ready.
- Be prepared. Get ready for school day the night before, and build in a little extra time in case there is traffic or other delays.
- Make a backup plan. If something comes up, have a family member, neighbor, or another parent help you get your student to school.
- Schedule carefully. Try to plan medical appointments and extended trips when school isn’t in session.
Here are our August 2024 attendance percentages:
- 5th Grade: 92.76%
- 6th Grade: 93.41%

Sticky Notes of Positivity: 6th Grade Shines in SEL Activity!
Recently, our 6th grade students took part in an inspiring Choose Love SEL (social emotional learning) lesson that encouraged them to embrace positivity and kindness in a creative way. Students wrote positive things about themselves and each other on sticky notes, which were then attached to their peers or to their desks. This simple yet powerful activity was all about spreading positivity, building self-esteem, and appreciating one another.
While this activity had the potential to become a little chaotic, I was amazed at how well-managed each classroom was. Everywhere I visited, the students were thoroughly engaged in the activity in a meaningful way. Volume levels were kept appropriate, and it was truly heartwarming to witness students taking the time to express kindness to one another and reflect on their own positive qualities.
It even turned into a bit of a "human gallery walk," with students proudly displaying their sticky notes of positivity! Take a look at the picture below to see the smiles and creativity in action.
Thank you, 6th grade team, for facilitating such a successful and uplifting activity. You made a significant impact on our students’ sense of community and self-worth. Keep up the fantastic work!
Celebrating Success: 7th Grade Shines!
A big round of applause to Ms. Wanliss (English Language Arts Teacher) and Ms. Stamper (English Language Arts Small Group Teacher) for celebrating their 7th Grade top performers with an inspiring certificate ceremony! This special event was all about recognizing students' hard work, dedication, and progress — an opportunity for our young scholars to feel proud of their accomplishments and be acknowledged in front of their peers.
Positive reinforcement like this is so important for our students. Not only does it highlight their individual achievements, but it also serves as a powerful motivator for others to strive for their personal best. Recognizing their successes helps students build confidence and fosters a growth mindset, encouraging them to tackle new challenges with enthusiasm and resilience.
Thank you, Ms. Wanliss and Ms. Stamper, for your dedication and commitment to our students' success. Your efforts in creating a supportive and motivating environment truly make a difference in shaping a positive culture of learning. Let’s keep up the momentum — together, we’re helping our students grow and thrive!
