Drop/Add Information
For the Front Desk, Pam, and Paige
Nuts and Bolts
Quick/General questions:
- You can type in quick general questions either from yourselves or students on the drop/add Slack channel.
- Since lots of people will be monitoring it, it hopefully will be more efficient than trying to find a student’s individual advisor.
Advisor Zoom Links and SAGE Schedules
- Paige is collecting these for OAA. She will put together a directory. Kellee is collecting them for upper-division and will provide those as well.
- Paige is updating the drop-add schedule on the website as she gets information.
How to Direct Students
Students who calls on the phone have the following options:
- If the advisor is not in the office, but is on the schedule as “available” and gets a phone call:
- Connect the student with someone who IS in the office via phone (assuming it’s not an upper-division student of Anne Marie’s or Michael’s).
- Slack in the drop/add channel, “anyone available for a phone call from a ____ major?”
- Suggest they email or Zoom the advisor
- Ask on Slack if the advisor would mind giving them a call, then get the student's cell phone number and the advisor can call them back.
In-Person Students have the following options:
- These students can use Paige’s office to Zoom with their advisor.
- They can call the front desk number and then be transferred to an advisor that way.
- They can email their advisor .
- If a student is insistent upon seeing their advisor in person, they'll need to email the advisor to set that up.
- Extra masks and cleaning supplies are at the front desk if needed.
COVID-Related Student FAQs
Will my class be online or in person?
- Email your instructor to find out. Instructor names and emails appear beneath the class listing on your Athena Student schedule tab.
- Students can look up class format in Athena here: https://reg.uga.edu/enrollment-and-registration/2020-instructional-method-changes/
- If there is no room number for the course and instead it says “NCRR”, that means the course is definitely online
- Even if a room listed, email your instructor to see if in-person meetings are required or optional. Instructor names and emails appear beneath the class listing on your Athena Student schedule tab.
I need an online class because of COVID. Are there any I could sign up for?
- See the information above about online vs. in person classes.
- There are a few POD sections of ENGL 1102 and CHEM 1211L that are online. See below for the CRNs of sections only for students with COVID-related issues
- CHEM 1211L CRN 13560 section has been created for students who will not be returning to campus and whose classes are fully online. Students should send their request for full online approval through DRC. If approval is granted, the Chemistry department will issue a POD. Email chemreg@uga.edu with questions.
- ENGL 1102 CRNs 25297, 25298, and 25183: These sections require a POD because they have been converted to fully online to accommodate for any possible COVID complications. Email Kensie Poor (kpoor@uga.edu) for the POD.
I’ve been exposed to COVID. What do I do?
- Use DawgCheck to report the exposure and receive guidance. Check and report your current health condition daily using this link!
What about masks?
- They are required everywhere but in your dorm room and outside – if you can maintain 6 feet of distance. If you forget yours, your professor may have an extra available.
What if I want to report someone not wearing a mask?

- Reach out to your advisor for additional course options.
I dropped a lecture and was automatically dropped from the lab. Now I can’t get either back. (Make no promises to students that the departments will get them into both. But if student is insistent)
