It was so great seeing our school filled with all our students today! Even without any power the Abernethy community showed up! We had classrooms full of students and hallways full of parent volunteers who were helping sort through all the classroom supplies. Our school felt complete! We even had our new Kindergarten students joining us for their Kindergarten Ramp Up day!
Thank you all for your patience with our power outage this morning. Please know that I will always communicate regarding anything that happens at Abernethy, however, sometimes the decision is out of my control and I need to have district officials involved, and sometimes other factors make my communication a little more difficult. This morning, since the power went out so early, it was hard to get a hold of all who needed to be involved. The staff and I were making our plans to welcome your students while still waiting for district guidance. For a brief period I had the internet and was able to send announcements through Remind on my computer, however when we lost the internet…. It was one thing after another after my “This is the year of NOTHING” announcement! Yes, the staff and I got a good laugh with that one!
After everything, I still stand by my “Year Of Nothing, Nothing But Learning”. We did not have to close school. Staff, families and students showed up and we had an amazing day! Tomorrow is a new day and now we can add first day of school power outage to our check off list!
