Calling all sponsors for the 2023 Taste in Motion!
The Taste In Motion, Maynard Education Foundation's signature fundraising event, is next month! We are seeking businesses and organizations to sponsor The Taste In Motion. Corporate sponsors enable MEF to fulfill our mission of funding innovative grants in the Maynard Public Schools. We can't do this without you!
If your company is interested in becoming a sponsor, please fill out the sponsorship form by April 21st or email info@maynardeducation.org for more information.
Spanish Exchange for 2024-2025
Have you been curious about our Spanish Exchange Program? Students from the town of Tomares come to Maynard, and our students travel to Tomares. The young people live and learn together, enhancing their language skills, and making lifelong connections. You can learn more at this link.
An informational meeting for interested students and families will be held at MHS on Monday, April 24 at 6:00 PM. It will be in Ms. Adams's classroom. Please contact Ms. Adams (jadams@maynard.k12.ma.us) to RSVP so there are enough chairs, or if you have any questions prior to the meeting.
High School Volunteers at Open Table
If your high school student is looking for a rewarding volunteer commitment, Open Table is a great choice. Students get a chance to help others and to receive service hours at the same time.
After School Student Teams -- Get your service hours volunteering with friends! There are currently limited openings on the student shift.
Shifts are 1.5 hours: Mondays at 4 pm, Wednesdays at 4 pm
Go to: OpenTable.org and look under volunteers.
Superintendent's Scholars
Congratulations to seniors Levon Sarian and Nicholas Tenaglia for being selected to represent Maynard High School as Superintendent's Scholars this year. They were chosen for their impressive academic achievements over the past four years. On March 7, Lev and Nick attended the Scholars' Luncheon at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. This annual event celebrates the academic accomplishments of graduating seniors across Central Massachusetts.
Leadership Conference at Worcester State University
On March 31, twelve sophomores attended the Learning to Lead conference at Worcester State University. The students were nominated by their School Counselors to take part in a day devoted to healthy decision-making, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills development. Congratulations to the group -- we will be seeing a lot more of these leaders as they become upperclassmen!!
Class of 2024 to Sell Prom Tickets
Tickets for the 2023 Prom, "A Night in the Garden," will be on sale for $65.00 from April 10-14. Students in grades 11 and 12 can buy their tickets at lunch. This year's Prom will be on May 12 at Stow Acres Country Club. Students must pay all outstanding class dues to purchase a ticket.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
This school year, ALL STUDENTS can receive a free breakfast and lunch every day at school. However, if you think that your family might qualify, we strongly encourage parents/caregivers to complete the free and reduced lunch application. Qualifying for free and reduced lunch also qualifies students for reduced cost and/or fee waivers for various school related fees (bus fee, field trips, SAT test fees, AP test fees and college application fees). The online application is available here: https://www.nlappscloud.com (social security numbers and proof of permanent residency are NOT required).
There are two community food pantries in Maynard that are available to Maynard residents.
The Open Table Food Pantry (www.opentable.org; 33 Main St, Maynard) is open on Tuesdays, 3:30 - 6:30 PM and Thursdays, 1 - 4:30 PM and offers free bags of groceries 1x/week. Open Table also allows families to pick up frozen meals for family members weekly.
The Maynard Food Pantry (www.maynardfoodpantry.com; 82 Main St., Maynard) is open on Mondays from 10 AM - 12 noon 1-2x/month
