Morning Arrival Procedures
There have been many questions regarding our morning arrival procedures. The directive we have been given by the district Safety and Security office is that we cannot have walk-ups to the campus. Our two arrival and dismissal options for students at Hemphill are either as car or bus riders. There is a plan to do some work on the back of the campus over the summer so that we can have a full loop around the school. Also, if the next bond passes, we will have significant work done that will expand the school, parking lots, and drop-off areas. Until then, we have to work within the confines that we are given.
Student ID Badges
Bus riders have 2 - one stays on the backpack and one stays on the child at school. Badges should not leave school, but please make sure your child returns with the badge if s/he accidentally takes it home.
If a child needs to replace the badge, the cost is $5. Please click THIS LINK to pay for your child's replacement badge.
VERY IMPORTANT - Do not punch a hole in the ID. That will deactivate the badge. This is the reason we provide clear plastic sleeves instead.
Regarding Attendance
Did you know ... An excuse note is ALWAYS required for absences whether it’s a parent note or doctor note. You may submit notes within 5 days of a student's return to school. If a student is absent more than 3 days, a doctor note is required. Please email notes to hes.attendance@hayscisd.net. Verbal communication cannot take the place of a written note.
After School Clubs
As you know, we have introduced "during the day clubs," however, we still have a few fun clubs to offer after school on Tuesdays. If your child is interested in any of the following clubs, make sure you complete the form that was sent home.
- History Day Club - 3rd-5th grade
- Boy Scouts - 3rd-5th grade
- Puzzle Club - 3rd-5th grade
