Caldwell School District Update
From Superintendent Dr. N. Shalene French
March 14, 2025
MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
In the Strategic Plan, we have identified six (6) strategic pillars:
- Safe & Supportive Schools
- Community Engagement
- Inspiring Student Growth & Achievement
- Stewarding Valued Resources
- Empowering College & Career Readiness
- Ensuring Quality Instruction
For the past two years, we have focused on Inspiring Student Growth & Achievement and Empowering College & Career Readiness and we will continue to do so. Decisions regarding budgets, instructional materials, and staff professional learning opportunities will continue to be based on strengthening these two pillars.
We appreciate the work of dedicated educators. Through their collective efforts, we have made significant changes in how we support our students in their learning.
This includes academic and behavioral support for every child through "WIN", "RTI", and "PBIS". I encourage you to take the opportunity at Parent Teacher Conferences to ask your child's teacher or building principal how your child is benefiting from "WIN", "RTI", and "PBIS".
This past school year, we introduced new reading, phonics, and math resources in Kindergarten through 4th grade and new English and math resources in 6th - 8th grades. Again, I encourage you to take the opportunity to ask your child's teacher and building principal how your child is benefiting from these resources, which align with the Science of Reading and Mathematical Thinking research.
For several years, Caldwell has had a robust Advanced Opportunity, dual credit, and CTE program. We will continue to do so with even more intention. We will actively be seeking internships, apprenticeships, and post-secondary options to benefit our students during high school as they prepare for their next stages of "learning" and "earning" after graduation.
We remain committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students that foster academic growth and the development of learner competencies that lead to success in post- secondary education and the workplace.
We remain committed to providing an academic foundation to allow all students access to a variety of post-secondary options.
