Dear D56 Families,
I first would like to recognize and thank the entire D56 staff for working together to ensure we had a great start to the school year. It has been a week full of activities at each school to get into routines and overall expectations while connecting with students and setting the stage for learning.
I also want to thank all families for your support and patience during the first days of school. It takes time and effort to get back into the routine with buses, lunches, and the logistics that accompany the back to school season. It is evident that things go smoother when we can count on your partnership.
This year, we are especially excited to continue our focus on the Portrait of a Graduate. This framework guides our efforts to ensure that every student not only excels academically but also develops the essential skills and attributes needed to succeed in the ever-changing world. Every school has carefully selected competencies to focus on for the year based on their school improvement plans. Our dedicated educators are committed to creating a learning environment that fosters these qualities.
I also want to thank you for your flexibility as we began implementing our late start every Wednesday. On these days, school will begin exactly one hour later than normal times. The time on these days allows our teachers and staff dedicated time for professional development, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement of our instructional practices. This time is crucial for ensuring that we provide the highest quality education to your children.
