Liberty Family Newsletter
October 2024
Dear Liberty Families,
Happy October! Fall is in full swing, and it’s hard to believe how quickly the school year is moving along. I want to extend a big thank you to everyone who joined us for Liberty Night at the homecoming football game—I hope you all had a fantastic time!
We’ve also had our first conference night and have two more scheduled this month. These conferences are such an important time for building strong partnerships between home and school, and it’s been wonderful to connect with so many of you about your student's progress. We look forward to continuing those conversations and working together.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to celebrate our fall PTO parties on Thursday, October 31st! Students should wear their school-appropriate costumes to school—no changing, please! Also, please remember that fake blood or wounds, masks, and weapons are not allowed. Weather permitting, we’ll have a costume parade at 2:00 pm outside the building, where families are welcome to join us and watch. However, if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we won’t be able to invite families inside due to space constraints. Thank you for your understanding!
Let’s make it a great month full of learning, growth, and fun as we head deeper into fall.
Warmly,
Mrs. Brianne Puleo, Principal

Safety
Safety for our students is a top priority at Liberty. We are constantly reflecting and evaluating our routines to ensure student safety. There are three important changes that will be happening next week:
Bus Riders: An additional bus tag will be attached to your student’s backpack sometime next week. The tag will be color coordinated. For example, all of Bus 99 will have a red tag attached to the children’s backpack. This is meant to be a quick visual to ensure children are loading the correct bus. Please do not remove this tag and remind your student of this important rule as well. If a tag becomes displaced or broken please contact your student’s teacher.
First Grade Car Riders: We are asking families that pick up your first grader daily to form 2 lines along the sidewalk. One line for A Pod and one for B Pod. Students will be called in order of the parent line. This will help ensure that students are released to the correct adult.
Playground During Dismissal: We understand that waiting in the car isn't always fun, but if Liberty students are outside for extra recess or a fun activity while the car rider line is active, we ask that siblings and other children waiting in the car line remain in the car. Sometimes older kids share conversations that aren’t age-appropriate for Liberty students, or younger children may be at risk of getting hurt. Keeping everyone in the car will also help prevent gaps in the car line and keep Jaycox Rd. from backing up.
We appreciate your support and grace and as we implement these new routines.
PBIS
Behavior at Liberty
We’ve noticed an increase in unexpected behavior during lunch and recess, particularly with students putting hands on one another or misusing equipment. We encourage families to watch our PBIS videos that highlight expected behaviors and to speak with their students about the importance of keeping their hands to themselves. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students be Ranger STRONG! Together, we can create a positive and safe environment for everyone.
Expected Behavior Videos
Throughout the year, teachers use Expected Behavior Videos to teach and reteach what is expected in each area of Liberty School. These videos feature Liberty students and were made in collaboration with the Video Production Class at North Ridgeville High School.
Liberty Staff Shoutouts
We are excited to introduce a new way for you to recognize our Liberty staff members! At any point in this school year, you can complete the Google Form below to give a shoutout to a staff member who has made a positive impact on your child. Your feedback will be celebrated and appreciated throughout our school community!
Report Cards
Report cards will be released on November 1st in PowerSchool. Be sure to log in to review your child's performance and growth. Remember, you can check your child's progress in PowerSchool at any time throughout the year to stay updated on assignments, assessments, and teacher comments. If you haven't yet set up your parent account or need assistance navigating the platform, please contact our front office for support.
