Family 'Pulse Check' Survey
The District has launched a short, mid-year survey for all CH-UH families. The information you share will guide us in tailoring our practices to better meet your needs, strengthen communication, and create meaningful partnerships that benefit all students.
The survey will close on January 20, 2025. Please take a separate survey for each of your children.
Trusted Adult Survey
Heights High Students, do you have a trusted adult in the building?
A trusted adult is any staff member whose actions and words make you (the student) feel safe, who you feel cares about you, respects you, and you would feel comfortable confiding in.
Please take a moment to complete the Trusted Adult Survey identifying at least one staff member you would call your trusted adult. Please do not select more than 5 trusted adults.

College Credit Plus Information Night: January 16
Heights High School's Guidance Department will host an information night for the College Credit Plus program this Thursday, January 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium.
Parents and students will have the opportunity to learn from local college representatives about the requirements for earning college and high school credit. Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in the program.

College Now Greater Cleveland Services at Heights High
College Now Greater Cleveland is proud to offer comprehensive support to students at Cleveland Heights High School through our GEAR UP and Educational Talent Search (ETS) programs. These initiatives are designed to guide students through their educational journeys and help them prepare for college and future careers.
GEAR UP:
Focused on serving the Freshman and Sophomore classes, GEAR UP provides personalized, one-on-one advising, workshops, and exposure opportunities to help students develop essential skills and knowledge for higher education.
Educational Talent Search:
Tailored for Juniors and Seniors, ETS offers similar support, including individual advising, college readiness workshops, and enrichment activities that prepare students for the transition to college life.
Each program is dedicated to empowering students with the tools they need for success. College Now encourage grade-level teachers to sign up for workshops and partner with them to maximize student engagement and preparation. CTE Application Due January 17
Class of 2027...have you applied for your CTE program yet?
The Career Technical Education (CTE) application is open until this Friday, January 17 for current sophomores to apply for one of the 22 Heights Career Tech programs. Students can apply for the program of their choice at HeightsCareertech.com.

Instrumental Music Department Fundraiser at the Grog Shop: January 25
If you’re looking for a fun – and warm! -- weekend activity where you can enjoy high quality instrumental music and benefit young musicians at the same time – all in a historically-relevant local music venue, Heights High’s Instrumental Music Department has you covered.
On Saturday, January 25th, current and alumni musical groups including jazz ensembles, chamber music groups, rock bands and solo performers, will grace the stage of Cleveland Heights’ own Grog Shop to raise funds for uniforms, tour scholarships and more. Organized by the Band and Orchestra Parents’ Organization (BOPO), the afternoon event will serve as a showcase for Heights High’s musicians and give them an opportunity to experiment with different musical genres and in different musical combinations.
Tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for students. Doors open at 2:00 p.m., with performances concluding by 6:00 p.m., at the Grog Shop, located at 2785 Euclid Heights Boulevard in Coventry Village. Click here to purchase your tickets.
Mandel Youth Humanities Academy Summer Program
The Mandel Youth Humanities Academy is a summer program that offers rising high school juniors and seniors in Northeast Ohio an opportunity to broaden their humanities education and get a taste of college coursework. The Mandel Youth Humanities Academy is a nine-week program that runs from June through August (break the week of July 4). The program meets Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The summer program includes:
- Discussion-based seminars in philosophy, history, art, literature, and religion
- Explorations and interactive documentaries in new media
- Community-based learning across Cleveland through “City as Text” experiences
Accepted students receive a generous stipend equivalent to a full-time summer job, a personal computer and, as needed, transportation to and from campus.

Seniors if you are receiving college acceptance letters or scholarship letters, please give a copy to Mrs. McEwen by paper in Room 105 or through email at t_mcewen@chuh.org.
Grand Canyon University Representative Visit:
Monday, January 13 during 5th period. Seniors and juniors will need to get a permission form from Mrs. McEwen in order to attend.
Upcoming Instant College Admissions Day:
Grand Valley State University - Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Seniors will need to sig up with Mrs. McEwen in order to attend.
Post-Secondary Assistance Night:
Tuesday, January 28 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. This is for students and families who need assistance with completing the Common App, FAFSA, and applying to scholarships. There will also be a raffle for cool prizes for those who attend. Questions? Please see Mrs. McEwen for more information.
The Heights Community Scholarship is due on Friday, January 17 by 5:00 p.m.!
All seniors have been added to the Google Classroom. The Google Classroom code is gnozja4. Remember, you will need to fill out the General Application before you get access to the scholarships. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. McEwen.

MetroHealth School Health Plan
The MetroHealth Institute for H.O.P.E. School Health Program is partnering with CH-UH to offer health care services on-site at your child’s school. Your child will now have easier medical service access during the school day. Additionally, CH-UH City School District students, their families, and staff members can receive routine health care at the Heights Wellness Center inside Heights High School.
What services does MetroHealth provide?
- Physicals (annual/sports/work permit)
- Injury/illness care
- Routine lab tests
- Teen services
- Mental/behavioral health
- Immunizations
- Care for chronic conditions, including asthma, allergies, diabetes and seizure disorders
- Health education and prevention
- Telehealth, to supplement in-person care

Social & Emotional Supports
If you know of a student is in need of social and/or emotional support, please complete the referral form located in the Quick Links section of Heights High’s page on CHUH.org. Anyone can complete this referral form, and submissions are routed directly to the school social workers and counselors for follow-up.
"See Something, Say Something"
Our “see something, say something” policy applies to our school community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anyone can access the Safe School Helpline to report threats, bullying, or other such behavior. Call 1-800-4-1-VOICE (1-800-418-6423) ext. 359 to leave your information, or submit a report online.
